Not really, no. Are there some out there, probably? But not really a big issue for well maintained properties.
Issues are bugs (specifically termites, ants and mosquitoes) and raccoons and possums (which really only angle for your trash cans).
No. lived here 50 years.Never had an issue and don't know anyone who has. Have heard of field mice when you live near a new big housing development being cleared because they are being displaced. But that's the suburbs these days.
Agreeing with the others and saying no. Having lived in other cities, Houston’s quite clean for the most part.
They can be inside the loop, rats in particular, in neighborhoods with a lot of restaurants (the Heights, Montrose, etc), but nothing like you’ll see in New York or Chicago.
I lived in the heights area, Houston 12 years, for over 3 years and walk everywhere. Haven’t experienced any of rodent issues. It’s the only reason I moved to the heights because I don’t like to drive and most places I can walk to safe and comfortably.
Houstonian here. No. I live in the loop. I would’ve moved if so.

Thank you all for the various perspectives. We are in a new development, and it seems like the field mice are trying to figure out where to go after getting displaced. Making an effort to let them know our garage isn't available!
Get a cat
I live in the Heights - shady acres specifically. There are tons of field mice in the neighborhood, as well as some rat colonies. Lots of feral cats as well, whom surely are keeping the populations at bay. We also see raccoons, possums, and an ocasional fox in our yard. We put sticky traps in our garage, towards the entrance and around the vents, but have caught just 1 mouse so far. We also have a couple of possum traps, in case they become destructive and start making unwanted holes. Been lucky so far though!
No
Insects and reptiles are a larger issue. Then, rodents. Especially if you are living near a body of water which are all over the Houston area and it's suburbs.
