Keto flu made me lethargic and lazy — like when you have a cold and just want to lay on the couch. Giving up sugar gave me mood swings, and made me irritable and cranky. I still occasionally get keto flu if I chow down on carbs, but it only lasts a few hours.
It was totally worth it, though — weight loss, stable hunger, better skin, more energy regardless of sleep, and I never get sick. Plus everyone thinks you’re a God when you can effortlessly resist dessert.
That's one of the weird unexpected things about Keto for me. I have probably the worst self control inthe world. I really think I would win a competition. It's bad and my biggest weakness in this life. But for some reason after doing Keto for over 2 months it has given me self control I never had before. I'm not binging the way I used to even when I can on Keto stuff.
I got really sleepy and sluggish. I couldn’t really think or concentrate on anything. And I had a really bad sore throat. But electrolytes help! I take potassium and magnesium supplements and I salt my food and drink a cup of chicken broth
Just drink electrolytes. Even a spoonful of sea salt in a large glass of water will help. Or eat pickles and drink the juice - you can buy pickle juice in little shot style bottles of need be.
Lost 25lbs during busy season combining paleo diet and intermittent fasting. Paleo is just a slightly more strict version of Keto. Felt great, and totally worth it
I had horrible migraine-like headaches that would last for days as I experienced sugar withdrawals. after the first week or so they went away.
It was worth it! While the weight loss portion of keto is great, I also had benefits including feeling more energetic, my skin stopped breaking out and I had better endurance when working out.
Thanks guys! Any tips for sticking with it?
Meal planning is key, that’s a great place to start. I find using an app to help track macros is helpful. Last, drink lots of water and consider an electrolyte replacement to help with the keto flu symptoms.
No symptoms! Good luck.
Thanks everyone. Definitely feeling the sluggishness like I want to nap all day. Also dealing with allergies isn’t helping. I’ll try electrolytes, thanks for the tip
Combination of both, I would imagine. It shouldn’t last too long, either way. Good luck!
