The crash and burn after a busy period is real. I’ve been busy nonstop for the last week and a half until around mid afternoon today and now I can’t focus on anything except a nap. Now I’m scared I’ll be sitting in task paralysis tomorrow instead of working, because the pressure is gone. Any tips for how to get through the rest of today and be productive tomorrow?

Build up momentum. Additionally- get off your phone and close your browser. If you stare at a work email for long enough (and don’t let yourself daydream), you’ll get so bored that doing work is more stimulating.

My go to: during work hours whenever I pick up my cellphone or open my browser, I verbally say “oh so I’m not going to be getting any work done right now.”

Verbalizing it helps make it a more conscious act.

Helps me to do something small I know I can accomplish first thing in the morning. Gives me a dopamine hit. Can be as small as cleaning your bath tub or bathroom sink or getting some task finished that takes 10 minutes. It changes the trajectory of your whole day. Has to be something you can actually finish though (for me anyway) to get the dopamine hit

Can provide more details if needed, but if an employee is constantly coughing at work (small retail establishment), is it okay to ask them for a doctor's note stating they aren't contagious? I recently joined a small-sized product based company.I have not been able to get along with my manager. He does not give me full information on assigned tasks and expects me to follow his order to the letter like in a military. When I ask him doubts he either scolds me or laughs at me like I am dumb. I felt dizziness while working and fell down today.
I had to go to the doctor due to the anxiety and stress I was carrying since the last 2 months. It has affected my health.

How would you handle not getting a lunch break when you are a salaried employee treating patients for 40 hours a week? I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. Some of us have reached out to HR and we’re told to discuss it with the regional director, but the regional director says we’d have to come in early or leave late to block out a lunch break. My commute is an hour each way, so I’d prefer not to make my day any longer. Advice?

Hi, anyone ever try using a ovulation test as a positive result for pregnancy test? I manage 2 physician practices and one is extremely toxic. To the point the dr sides with staff even when I am trying to make corrective actions when patient care is in jeopardy. What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.

One of my frustrations with myself (writing it out here so I can work on it) is that I will print out something that I need, such as a traffic collision report. I will read it without actually reading it. This results in spending time without actually retaining info. Does this happen to anyone else? I’ve found that I can actually focus when I truly force myself, but often this happens after I’ve discovered an error or an important piece of information that I should have noticed earlier.
