When was the last time that you updated your resume? Are you promoting stuff like growth initiatives you've led in the past?
To your point, I've included leadership roles that I've served in as a result of sales success that led to promotions, etc.
There have been consistent massive layoffs. I am 17 months and still looking, and I crushed it every day at my old job.
I have to pay bills, so I created three income streams via ebay, handyman work, and some other things. I hear driving uber from 3 am to 11am for airport rides pays well and is excellent for networking.
Point is I was always distracted. With so many people looking, you must treat every communication with urgency. If you apply, find the vp of sales and msg them your cover letter which should include what you have been doing since your time off.
Need to be proactive. Find a Company that isn't hiring yet, and try speaking with them.
Best candidates are the ones who aren't looking. That actually goes both ways.
You’ll be fine I wouldn’t be too concerned about taking a year off, nor would I get too personal on sharing that information during your interview process. It’s none of their business and they might think if they hire you you’ll do it again.
