Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. I am curious how other inclusion teachers are being utilized when the school is doing remote learning. I find that I am sitting in the zoom class and have very little opportunity to contribute. I have never done freelance work and was given the opportunity to take part in a cool project. My problem is it’s a proactive case by a brand new agency and it’s their own project, meaning there’s no client who pays for the work. For them it’s PR for their new business, but I think they’re expecting me to work completely pro bono. It does have potential for a great case and I’d love to have it in my portfolio, but is it reasonable for them not to compensate me? Any tips on how to approach this?
