I am debating an offer from Northrop Grumman (in DC area). It would be a 10k paycut, going from 105k to 95k. Currently in industry right now, and prior to was in federal consulting. The benefits seem great at NG and work life balance seems awesome. I have a pretty decent work life balance now, when we’re not in the middle of integrating a new acquisition. Current company is also pretty lax about drinking (some ppl drink in the office) and overall less strict. But the place is a disorganized cont
At Lax airport now and there must be thousands of people at this terminal (like lots). Are we back to pre covid time travel by family folks n all?
My intern’s writing is good, but he is somewhat dumb and so not tech-savvy. He was trying to make charts from tables with numbers in text format today and asked me to help out. 🤷🏻♀️ Should I take the initiative to mentor this kid or just let it be? He is in grad school. I can’t sit around and teach him these basic things, though. His attitude is too lax as well. I asked him to fix the excel, and he was like, he’ll send it tomorrow. And that was 5 minutes of work. 😑 Or am I being too judgmental?
Has anyone won a lottery that is life changing? Did you quit work completely or did you take up a lax job to keep busy and earn modestly.
I strive to be the best teacher I can be but I'm also aware of my shortcomings. I'm not the most organized and I'm very lax when it comes to classroom management. Are you aware of yours? Do you try to fix it?
What are the best options for overnight parking at LAX? I’ll be leaving town for a week (I’m fully vaccinated) and don’t have a parking spot at my current apartment. Street sweeping means I can’t leave it on the street without getting a ticket. Any recommendations for cheap and safe parking lots at the LAX airport?
How has the traffic been around LAX and the security process within? Flying for the first time in a while and want to understand what the wait times will look like
Cali 🐠 is mammoth lakes airport open or planning to be open before mid June? Or is the best bet fly to Reno/LAX and drive?
Heading to China from LAX later this year and want to splurge on *business* class. Any tips (money savings, favorite airlines, etc)?
Has anyone moved to Britain from the US? I’m trying to move but unsure about the process. Are visa regulations more lax or am I going to be in a limbo like the US?
Anyone fly out of LAX recently? Have a flight Wednesday afternoon. Can’t imagine wait times are long? Have precheck.
Has anyone flown domestic into LAX recently and had to fill out the entry form? Do they collect it at the airport or does anyone even check if you've done it?
Has anyone been able to use their Delta upgrade certificates on DeltaOne flights? Looking at JFK-LAX but it says certificates can't be redeemed for the fight
Best place to rent a car at LAX?
Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?
Covid question - I work for a small firm (7 lawyers, 4 staff) and do estate planning and probate. They stopped WFH in May, and my office’s Covid policies have been... lax. No masks, half the office has gotten it, I’ve had to self isolate because of work exposures, etc. Now they want to go back to having clients in the office for estate planning meetings instead of zoom. I don’t feel comfortable being in an hour long meeting with people outside my household - do I bother saying anything?
Totally anecdotal but has anyone noticed if H1B transfers have become a bit more lax (less rfes etc) since election? About to go through a transfer and wondering if the removal of trump will lower chance of audit and delays (will be PP)
Can someone help me understand why a person who’s biggest reasons (high taxes, high cost of living, and strict lockdown laws) for moving away from their left leaning home state (CA & NY) to a right leaning state (TX&FL) that has little to no state income taxes, low cost of living, and lax lockdown laws still vote left when its those left leaning principles that have driven them out of their home state in the first place? Do they not realize theyre biting the hand that feeds them?
My friends and family think I have a tendency to be a little neurotic... anyone else in this boat? Any advice? I definitely have anxiety and can be a worrier but I’m not weird about cleaning or anything and I don’t let these worries hold me back from actually doing anything (besides covid stuff, and even then I’ve been on the lax side and go to stores and such).
I'm really focused on my career and on advancement, and have been interviewing at other companies for better opportunities. My fiancée wants me to stay at my current company because of the WL balance since it's a pretty lax job and allows me to spend time with my kid, but I want more out of my job. I just feel so stagnant. Should I just wait it out?
Extended family (live in the same neighborhood) wont stop "popping by" like once a week. They do not take COVID seriously and on top of that, they recently started sending their kids to school in-person. Parents get defensive with me and fall under the pressure of actually letting them inside the house (not garage or backyard) so that they dont offend the relatives. The relatives wear masks but they start getting lax (take it off or keep their nose exposed)...cont.
Quetions for parents travelling LAX-EWR-BOM next week. 1.What is the best option to get a COVID test done without insurance? 2.Can I submit the air suvidha exemption form now and upload the test results on the day of boarding or the request has to be initiated only after we give sample for testing i.e. within 72 hrs of boarding? Would greatly appreciate if someone with recent travel experience shed some light on the above or willing to chat. Thanks
From a discussion in our Live happy hour, here's a good infographic on real vs fake Japanese whisky distillers due to lax labelling laws and the global rise in popularity.
Is a 36 minute layover enough time at LAX? Not familiar with the layout of the airport. Think worst case scenario in terms of distance between gates.
AA Exec Plat here. Just flew Delta and they are so so good. Great covid related communication, fully sanitised aircraft, back to front boarding, handed each passenger a wipe upon boarding and offered more later. Flight hasn't even started yet and I'm floored. Their LAX lounge was also open and perfectly planned for the pandemic.
Might have to travel to Hyderabad from LAX for a family emergency. Do you have to travel to India via Vande Bharat mission or can you travel by Emirates etc? Emirates is exorbitant at $3.3k but Vande Barath is a 4 stop flight! Any advice from recent travelers?
I miss flying. I know , once we are back on, I will again complain about TSA lines , delayed flights , baggage claim fiascos, uber drivers , LAX/LGA and my co-passenger’s annoying behavior. But man, I will take that any day over this
lead developer has a lax typing style but just started typing my name all lowercase everywhere 😬 how bad did I piss him off
Looking to move to Huntington Beach, CA. Thinking about when we start to travel again, can anyone share their experience of the commute to LAX?
LA 🐠 anyone live near the beach (biking/short drive distance) and had a commute to Burbank/Glendale? What’s it like? My SO needs to commute daily to LAX area. We love the beach but when WFH subsides my company will need me commuting to Burbank/Glendale
Are LAX precheck lines open for delta?
Can somebody please explain the concern about a corona uptick in the cold months? I wanted to better understand the science with cold weather and viruses. Is it the increased need to be inside with poor ventilation? Does the virus survive better in the cold? Or is it more that we will continue to lax restrictions and become less careful? Thank you!
Woke up craving the LAX Marriott rueben. Not even 8 AM and I already know it’s going to be a weird day
Help me Decide: Am Senior PM at a bottom tier, PE-owned niche tech firm on the west coast. Low-effort work environment due to lax leadership and low maturity in PM discipline. Day to day is pretty mellow and I like my coworkers a lot. Making decent $$$ but just got an offer for same title at dev shop that’s about a 15% salary bump, but the org sounds pretty crappy, W/L balance def will be worse. No other incentives aside from base salary. Recently bombed a 2nd round PM interview with a FAANG.
Has anyone applied for Hungarian citizenship as a descendent? The rules seem pretty lax and just wondering how it went. My great g-parents were Hungarian but I have no official Hungarian docs.
Really not sure why I went to law school. I spent all that time and money earning the degree and getting licensed. I now go into work, and while I do enjoy what I do somewhat, I am always stressed and I cant sleep at night because I’m worried about messing something up. I look at my friends who aren’t attorneys and they not only have a much more lax workload and can have more fun during the week, they also make more money than I do. Why am I in this industry again?
Anyone else starting to resent how lax some people are taking social distancing? I’m in NJ and still going hard (for the most part)...are you jealous of people seeing friends? I am... are we fighting
Taking an international flight out of BOS, not checking any bags, if my flights at 9pm what time should I get to the airport? Dont gave global entry

Anyone with a CSR Use the KLM lounge in IAH? The wait crew is ridiculous/ OCD. Picks up my teacup multiple times to check if it's empty. HANDS OFF BRAH 🙄 Happens every week
Sleeping in LGA tonight? 🌧⛈🌧

Taking a 4 month old on a cross country flight (NYC - SFO) Any tips on flight prep/time change/feeding times etc? Should I apologize in advance to other passengers?

PC gaming 🐟: Where is your rig? Do you have your gaming pc in the same room/desk as your work station? My new home has enough room for a den and an office. I'm trying to decide if I want my work desk in the same room as my gaming pc. Thoughts?
Is it just me or LGA is the worst airport ever ?

Only one flight from San Diego to New York. It was cancelled due to maintenance. Now I have to connect thru SFO. Landing in New York 6 hrs later than my original canceled flight. Alaska Airlines. Pts?
The San Diego Zoos 2020 Audited FS (CohnReznick) excludes a disclaimer of opinion, and gives a fully unmodified opinion, however the balance sheet shows a $1 balance for all revenue producing zoological assets with a disclosure explaining there is no objective basis for establishing value, however Sea World does have their aquarial assets on their Balance Sheet. Plus the SD Zoo uses ZIMS to track all their animals, including all attributes (ages, sex etc) which the fs says is not possible. WTF
Got an offer at a startup with 130 base. I can choose between SF and SLC. I think I’d prefer SLC just because I’m scared about how expensive SF is. How is the gay life in SLC like especially for a 23 yo poc?
Hi all! I currently live in LA but my wedding next year will be in my hometown of Chicago. I plan to go wedding dress shopping soon in both LA and Chicago. If I find my dream wedding dress in Chicago, I’d like to order it to be shipped to a store in LA so that I can have my fittings throughout the year without having to travel back to Chicago. However this also means I would have to fly to Chicago with my wedding dress. Has anyone been in this situation before? If so, how was the experience?
If you had to boil it down, what would you say is the overall goal of our industry? (Ex. Healthcare - save/improve lives, Journalism - uncovering truth, etc).
I’ve only been with my company for a couple months but it looks like my title will change soon (title bump) and there should be some pretty cool added responsibilities. Should I bring up compensation or anything like that? I feel like I’ll be doing more work aligned to the direction I want to take my career but I also don’t want to look greedy since I haven’t been there for long. I have around 2 years of experience if that helps paint the picture. Also if yes, how do I bring it up?
All the folks out there on a visa (e.g. H1B), what are some side hustles you have to earn some extra $$. Need some extra hope today to keep at it!

How to negotiate salary offer at a startup given the following. Offer is -$5k my current salary, but I'm up for promotion in a few months which would bump me +~$10-15k, also have an offer from their direct competitor but it's -$10k my current salary since they are earlier stage. Do I have any leverage to negotiate the original offer or no?
Hope everyone got the promo and/or raises they were looking for this season. If you’re unhappy in your current role, and Interested in making a switch or chatting with a recruiter, GT is hiring in many of our offices. DM if interested!

Can company ask for a COVID positive test results? HR is asking for "tracing" purposes. I don't really care to provide as I don't think they mean anything negative, but thought maybe I should be aware of what is allowed or not at least.

My husband and I are expecting and both of us have moms diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD.) My dad passed away earlier this year and my FIL lives in Australia and is the nicest man. He’s just far away from us since we’re based in the NE. My therapist says your family doesn’t have to be blood related but I can’t help but feel sad our baby won’t have grandparents or a similar type of figure easily accessible/ nearby. Can anyone relate and/or have a similar situation?
Good morning 🐠!!!!! Waiting on (hopefully🤞🏼) an offer from a company that I had my final interview with on Friday. Please send all the good vibes!!
