I have an interview with Guidehouse and I’m reviewing the benefits package. Could anyone share their thoughts on medical benefits and what to negotiate for. Coming in as a Managing Consultant in DC area. Thanks!

Can anyone talk to me about their experience with Slalom Consulting? Years ago, I interviewed with them and it didn’t work out. Their benefits were okay-ish and during the interview for data analytics consultant position, I found it strange that they wanted to quiz me on simple SQL and Tableau features rather than how I used different tools to solve problems. I was looking to help a friend look for opportunities in the area and I found out that everyone who interviewed me left already

I feel like I made the worst mistake of my life joining consulting out of school a year ago. I was so excited for it initially. Now all of the benefits like travel, career progression, compensation growth, networking, on-site training and development, and more are gone or severely reduced. Is there any way to get out without completely restarting? I’m thinking about going to industry but I’ve realized that no desirable jobs want a consultant with 1 YOE so it really feels like there is no escape.

US Navy peeps. I’m prior service (enlisted, SF) looking to commission in the US Navy Reserves. Currently a M7 PhD stiudent (healthcare-business focus, quantitative field, obviously used to be a consultant). Any fields you recommend I look at or suggest I avoid? Hey y’all: currently weighing the benefits of obtaining an MBA. Started career with 2.5 years of corporate FP&A, then moved to Senior Consultant at a high growth Mgt Consulting firm (1.5 years in). I’ve seen roles back in industry require (interchangeably) MBA or 2-year management consulting experience. Are MBAs helpful/necessary for consultants...just to have one? Should it be more purpose-driven? Etc.

Need help with deciding between two offers. Recently accepted an offer at another consulting firm only to have my current employer counter at the last minute. Here are the offers:
NEW COMPANY (Global Consulting firm):
-$115K base
-10% annual bonus
-401K match (4%)
-Senior Consultant (security strategy)
-10 weeks paid paternal leave
- considerably cheaper healthcare
- all the resources associated with larger consulting firms (training, mentorship, perks, etc)

Is the best route to gain skillsets via PE/HF? Know this will be an uphill battle

What type of exit opportunities do people usually leave for? I saw someone leave as a senior consultant and moved into a director role in industry. Is this a common transition?

I know there’s no real answer given the large variety of different factors at play, but just curious what people would think.

Could someone at McKinsey explain this? My understanding is that the hierarchy at McKinsey goes from Junior Associate to Associate to Engagement Manager to Associate Partner and finally Partner. On the McKinsey career site, I see several position advertised as Consultant ("implementation consultant", "Healthcare Consultant"). Are these contract-based temporary roles? Or do these positions align more to an Engagement Manager level?

Second year Consultant who came from a benefits broker. I feel like I am very much still learning the ropes of consulting. Was asked to help on a deck for proposal work for something I have no background/knowledge in. Told by the partner that I wouldn’t be creating content just story boarding and managing and organizing in the deck. The manager, familiar with the proposed solution, however seems to be annoyed with me that I didn’t create content. Not sure what to make of this?
