New joiner here! Wanted to ask about AMEX corporate cards - I know we foot the bill and get reimbursed, does this apply to the annual fee as well? If I pay the annual fee, I get reimbursed back for the annual fee too right?

Also, curious to know what color AMEX card everyone gets from the different firms (big 4, other firms, and for junior level staff). Green, Gold, Platinum?

Any thoughts on exit to AmEx? It would be a ~25% pay cut, but I’m burnt out and positive that I don’t ever want to make partner at a consulting firm (the stress, the continual worry of having to sell and then staff projects, the partners I see always being on, etc). I also however do not want to dead end my career…

Amex platinum going up on its fee to 695. Wow

I have 5 credit cards. I signed up for new during the pandemic to take advantage of massive signup bonuses and may have a few free vacations in the near future as a result.

Amex Gold is currently offering a 60k point bonus. Worth signing up? Should I cancel one of the cards I used just for the bonus? I feel like the only cards I use now are my Chase Sapphire and Hilton Amex.

With the new Amex Platinum $300 Equinox credit as well as a ~$1k credit I get from my company for gym memberships that can bring down the all-access membership by ~33% albeit still expensive ($200/month), just wondering what has been everyone’s experience with Equinox (i.e., is it worth the money, are the clubs that much nicer than a standard gym, do they have all the equipment (e.g., deadlift platforms, etc.) or are you better served by a Lifetime Fitness / 24 Hour Fitness?

Amex Plat AF increased to $695. New “benefits” include: $200 hotel credit (FHR and THC only), $240 entertainment credit (Audible, Sirius, Peacock, and NYT only. Also split into monthly), $179 clear credit, and $300 equinox credit (split into monthly, only good on subscriptions), premium access to private jets (through Wheels Up), and access to premium tables through Resy.

This sounds like absolute 💩 to me, but interested to hear what fishbowl thinks

AMEX Platinum Card Holders - With automatic Marriott Gold, does that mean you only need to stay the delta of 25 nights (50-25) to get Platinum status for the year? Or do you get Gold status but are still required to stay 50 nights to get Platinum?

I have an old chase freedom card which I guess doesn’t exist anymore. Should I change to the freedom flex? Currently put travel/dining on CSR, use Freedom for the quarterly 5% categories, and put flights and everything else on Amex. I don’t think it makes a difference if I’m only using it for the 5% right?

AMEX Platinum vs CSR - which to choose? A few things:
- Marriott member
- Denver based (centurion lounge)
- moving to Accenture so will be booking hotels on a personal card
