I’m planning on leaving my job in the next month or so. I already have a few interviews set up, so I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’ll eventually tell my boss. Basically, I’ve been incredibly unhappy and desperate for a change as expectations are just unsustainable. I’m worried, because a few people have left my team in the past few months and she seems to take it very personally and becomes pretty passive aggressive. Any advice for how to approach this convo (eventually)?

I went through a couple of interviews for a job posting that I wasn’t 100% about, it’s been a couple weeks since and I usually send a follow up right around now, should I still do it even if it’s not a position I necessarily want? Didn’t want to come off rude in case of future opportunities.

Thoughts on Saatchi & Saatchi? Had an intro interview on a P&G account and it seems too good to be true.

Had a REALLY great interview the other day and walked out of it thinking positively. The person (would be boss) interviewing me said nothing but great things about my work, strategy and professional ability/managerial style. Found out I didn’t land the job, “I wasn’t the right fit”. I get that happens but I find it irritating that an interviewer can act as if it’s all going swimmingly but in reality in their minds it’s not. Why fake it during interview and pass out compliments you don’t mean?

My manager (VP of marketing) is actively interviewing elsewhere - she has interview slots on her work calendar (can be seen by everyone). Other events are marked private, but all the interviews are not. It’s so weird 😂

Does anyone feel like they’re getting really rusty with...talking? I feel like with such limited social interactions (except work meetings) I’m so awkward now. I’m interviewing right now and I feel sooo rusty.

If I put a TVC in my book (as an art director), what are the general assumptions of my role in the project? Are art directors usually supposed to handle set design and stuff in addition to concepting it? Should I be specific in my book as to what parts I did or didn’t do or leave that to when people ask in interviews?

After 4 rounds of interviews, a company tells you you're a final candidate, and gives you a deadline for when a decision will be made. Then they blow past that date and ghost you for over a week. No phone calls or emails returned. Would you still consider the job if given the offer weeks later? Feeling a little disrespected.

Would you interview for a position you feel you’re under qualified for? I have been a senior consultant of strategy at Interbrand for about a year now. I have a total of 5 years experience working in branding/advertising. I received a recruiter InMail last week regarding a strategy director role at a smaller branding agency. The job seems interesting and challenging and I’m def intrigued by the opportunity and title bump but I feel like I am not ready to take on the director role yet. Continued.

Applying for jobs during a pandemic: I’m looking for both a new role to start ASAP and I would like to relocate to a different city within the next year. Given the current environment, are employers open to hiring someone who is currently not in the region? Will listing my address hurt my chances of moving forward in the interview process?

Today I had an interview with a white ECD dude. Honestly, I was afraid about how it would go. But I was surprised how nice, down to earth and really cool he was. Normal, in fact. Why do I have to be surprised ? It’s a shame white dudes in advertising have built such an awful reputation for many years.

Going on month 4 of being out of a job and the depression is starting to kick in. Not really sure where else to turn but staying in bed all day, even when I have interviews. Still going to keep my head up though ☀️

Once you get an offer that you’ll be accepting; do you let the other recruiters know? Some haven’t come back with a rejection nor update, even though two (and even three!) weeks have passed. Should i just inform the ones i interviewed with in the past week? Or nah?

How important are thank you emails after interviews during this time? For the majority of my interviews, the internal recruiter/HR has not provided the emails but during the interviews the team members mention to be in touch through HR. Or get their email for questions.

are people seeing more rounds/assignments in the interview process because of COVID? def feels like that for me. i think b/c 1) technology makes it easier to set up meetings and 2) companies want to be extra sure of a hire since they can’t interview in person and so are vetting them through more people/assignments

Applying for job that’s asks for 150 characters to say what makes me unique (and to be creative/catch their eye). Where do you go with this? Professional or personal focus? It’s basically 2 sentences.

What is the etiquette for following up with an agency recruiter who you sent your resume to after having an informational interview? She reached out to me via LinkedIn, we spoke live, I sent my resume (after having to reach out twice for more info, the first time she ignored me for 2 days). Tomorrow it will be a week since I sent my resume and told her I’d like to move forward. Do I reach back out and ask for next steps or do I just consider myself full and well ghosted at this point? 👻

Damn. Was lucky enough to land an interview. The interview went numerous rounds, it was super positive, so then I decided I would be 100% honest about something I wasn’t good at, in hopes of being clear that I was ready to grow. Then I got ghosted, and I think it’s because of the said honesty. Feeling low and stupid for ever admitting a “fault” in an interview instead of just telling them that I’m perfect.

How do you approach an informational interview with an internal team?

So, I used to write for Sports Illustrated and I’m trying to get into copywriting. I’ve also done copywriting for small businesses over the past two years. I don’t exactly have your typical portfolio and, at 30-years-old, I can’t really stop working and go to portfolio school. I’m applying for jobs, but nothing doing yet. Am I out of luck or do you think someone with that kind of background can get hired by an agency?

If you go rounds and rounds of interviews and lose out on a job to one other candidate, hearing it was “really close” etc do you have a follow up conversation with HR who passed the bad news to you for possible further insight into the decision, or do you just chalk it up as a loss and move on?

How do you guys feel about accepting a job that you’re likely under qualified for? Great title boost but realistically unsure if I’m there yet and confused as to how I got through the interview process
