Has anyone here worked on a tobacco account? I don't have much of a hangup on the product itself (users know what they're getting into, like alcohol) but I'm wondering if the work is usable in a book, or if it's taboo in the eyes of hiring managers/decision makers. Weighing whether to pursue a role ripping heaters or not...

There’s an opportunity at a company I’ve always wanted to work at. However, i feel the current opening would be quite a step down as I have several years more experience and much more responsibilities than this is calling for. Is it worth applying to warrant a conversation with hiring manager? Message hiring manager to see if there’s flexibility (not sure how would address this)? Or just stay patient for something my level?

When do you ask if a role is open to you being remote? I know we all are right now, but I’d love to stay remote indefinitely as I need to move closer to family. Should I mention it to the recruiter? Or wait until they show some interest and try to negotiate it?

Since everything is over zoom now, can we work from anywhere in the world?

Always baffled how in America we hire a director and an editor separately for the most part. And that many directors don’t supervise the edit. If you hire a director, aren’t you hiring for the vision they bring? And if so, wouldn’t you want that to translate thru the edit? In some other parts of the world the director has in house editors and it’s an orchestrated thing.

Advice needed. My boss put a co-worker in a precarious position by making them do something sexual as a joke. Said coworker is not one to say no because he doesn't want to make a fuss. My boss had no ill intent, but it still made my coworker verrry uncomfortable afterward.

They haven't spoken about it. Coworker admitted they felt unpleasant but they are too scared to speak up.

Is it okay to go to my boss and tell them what they did was wrong and they should apologise to said co-worker?

As a media supervisor with 4.5 years of experience, what has the better trajectory: go to another agency for an AMD role or go in house for a Digital Marketing Manager role?

As the years-long #2 in the Finance and Admin part of my organization, I've been asked to submit my salary requirements for a role as Finance Director with a fast-track to Sr. Finance Director. I function as a Controller and head of HR for a company of ~70, I oversee a team of 2 accountants and an administrative assistant. I've been undercompensated for the last year and a half... is it nuts to ask for a 25% increase?

Great news is I got promoted but I found out how much a former coworker makes in the same position I got promoted to. Now I am questioning this gap. How much of a raise did you get when promoted to supervisor level?

Does a lateral move make sense at the junior level? I’m an associate now and a recruiter reached out for another associate role — sounds great and all but... I’m not sure about the title? It would be about $10k pay increase. For context, I’ll definitely have to jump from my current company for my next title bump

Advertising etiquette question: if you leave an agency mid-project, can you still put it in your book? (I played a big role in concepting and selling through ideas to the client, but I won’t be around for production).

Curious on the industries thoughts on people who over sell themselves in the interview process for a senior level position and when they get the job it becomes clear they don’t actually know how do the work. If you are a supervisor what are your thoughts in this instance? How long do you give the person to “figure it out”? Currently dealing with this within our dept and it’s causing more work/frustration than the new hire is actually helping.

I’m interested in a position at my current agency, working on another client. It’d mean no longer working with my current CDs who I love, but seems like a cool opportunity. Do I casually ask my CD about it and express interest? Don’t feel like my work is done on my current team, but the client is very cool and has great potential.

I have an upcoming interview for a campaign manager position at Walmart. Any advice on the position or insight into salary? Glassdoor wasn't very helpful.

Considering a role at VMLY&R. I am currently at another well-known, non holding company agency. It's remote, I think with a few locations. I'm looking for a change and to expose myself to new clients. I'd never really considered them before, but interested after speaking to a few people.
