I have had 4 social media internships and one freelance role so I'm not exactly a pro, but I definitely get what is involved with a social manager role and want to try something else.

Ten or so years ago when I worked in-house at a retailer, I'd send copy candidates a writing test to evaluate their potential before offering FT role. Is this practice kosher today, particularly in an agency setting? I recently saw backlash on LinkedIn, as some view this as "free work." I never thought of it that way as clients would see the work, since the subject matter wouldn't align 1:1 with a brief. Anyone have experience with this? Curious as to how you've navigated a "trial."

Why do job applications for art directors have way more requirements than copywriters these days? I’m sick of being expected to not only art direct and design, but to be the illustrator, animator, editor, 3D artist, UX/UI designer, etc. all while my copywriter friends snag interviews and gigs left and right with ease bc hiring managers just expect them to do the 1 job they’re supposed to do! I need a job and I’m so so so tired of it!

Has anyone else worked at a small agency and found that their other tasks outweigh the time spent filling the role they were hired for?

How can a candidate tell they're being jerked around by a recruiter/HR after a final interview? Is it ever appropriate to say you don't appreciate them not getting back to you after they said they would, for ignoring your emails, giving vague (or zero!) feedback, etc?

I'm tired of being ignored, ghosted, etc by these recruiters especially as someone who's just entering the industry. It's rude and unfair especially since each role has 3-6 interviews & I'm seeking genuine feedback. Advice?

I need honest opinions! How do you feel about agencies keeping a person on a Full-Time hourly Contract without any clear sight of offering a permanent Full-Time position?

So I know droga is a sweatshop for creative. But what’s it like for strategy? My partner is interviewing for a senior comms role there and I don’t know if he should if he values his life.

A recruiter submitted me for a job a few weeks ago and they declined, but a second recruiter just reached out asking about the same job so I know they’re still looking. It is a DREAM position for me. Would it be inappropriate to reach out directly to someone on their team?

I’m on my 2nd day of a new job and it’s nothing like what I was expecting or what the hiring manager said. On top of it, the clients I’m working with has these crazy, outdated brand guidelines that the team has to go by and the creative I’ve seen is just not that great (assuming it’s due to the clients branding). I just don’t know what to do, I feel like this isn’t the place for me but I haven’t even given it a full week yet. Has anyone experienced feelings like this before? What did you do?

I was laid off early in the pandemic, and other than a TINY bit of freelancing have completely missed out on the remote work experience. What would you guess-timate a Senior Social Strategist makes with 5 years of experience?
I’m negotiating my strategy and think I’m getting low balled as I’m currently at 70K and only getting an 8K raise for the new role.

Looking to pivot to a new agency to get exposure to different clients/type of work; due for promo from AAE to AE (1.5 years as an AAE) but won't come for another ~6 months at current agency - know they think I'm ready but company not in a position to promo yet. You know when you you get through 9 interviews and the recruiter says “it didn’t work out but we will keep your contact info for a future role.” Has anyone ever gotten a job a year or so later from that same recruiter or agency? Or do they actually just throw your resume and interview experience in an endless void of non hires.
