What are the exit opps for corporate strategy/business development roles? What are the options for long term career growth? Ie in consulting the (long term) progression goal is Partner. What’s the equivalent in these areas? I’ve tried doing a search but can’t find any consistent answers.

Would you advise somebody to take on a ‘stretch role’, when they’re relatively new to a firm? A Partner just pinged me about a ‘high visibility project’, but something feels off. I’m all for professional development, but I don’t want to risk messing up…

Any Googlers here in a partner manager role? Let me know if you’d be open to conducting a mock interview for me or sharing some insights on what to expect for GCA / RRK.

I'm a B4 Advisory/Consulting Director. I know for a fact I will never make Partner, but I'm well regarded and in my role feel zero up or out pressure. I make very good, but not spectacular money. I work hard but it is eminently manageable. It's a really good gig and I like what I do but sometimes I feel restless.

~ 2 YOE, want to be a career consultant to become a Partner, which firm offers the best pathway (i.e. growth, both personal and firm), benefits in the long-term and exit around EM level (to MBB). No particular interest in one sector yet.

interviewing with kpmg, i thought i’d have one manager, director, then a partner interview. but i’ve got another director interview. kinda nervous now, since i gave a good performance on my last interview and was just hoping to finish off with my partner interview. Coming from non consulting role, so any tips on my interviews would be appreciated as would any jokes and non-serious answers.

My partner smokes weed and if he gets this role he interviewed for he will need to get drug tested. He’s a daily smoker so I’m nervous he will end up failing the test even if he stopped smoking last week. Do those expensive detox toxins work ?

I am exploring two opportunities- one is IBM senior manager in IBM SAP Consulting US and second is IBM associate partner at IBM Managed services. Similar pay in both opportunities. Please advise which one is a better role.

I recently applied for a role as a manager in Nikes EMEA branch I received the automatic mail from the application portal acknowledging receipt of my application then received an email from the talent acquisition partner a week ago also acknowledging receipt and confirming that they are reviewing my application and will send me an update as soon as they know more. It's been a week and haven't heard back. What would be the next steps? How long is the nike recruitment process?

So I have a final round Panel Interview scheduled for tomorrow with a partner at EY. But I just received an automated email 10min ago saying the position has been closed or filled. So do I still have an interview tomorrow/should I email the recruiter?

I’m a 2nd year going to trial on a team with just a 5th year and the (very hands off) partner. I have trial experience, she doesn’t. I’ve also been on the case for 2 years, and she joined recently. I feel like I’ve been thrust into a senior associate role, managing deadlines, delegating work, and reviewing the mid’s work product. Im very grateful for the opportunities, but also stressed to be working above my experience level/managing someone senior. Any words of wisdom to help navigate this?

Looking for a closely held tax senior manager for a partner position in NYC. Message if interested.

I feel totally blindsided by the interview I just had. I talked informally with Partner 1 before the interview and was told the position would be in one of the firm’s satellite offices. Then, during an interview with Partner 1 and Partner 2, Partner 2 mentioned that I’d have to move to the state where the firm is headquartered because he believes face-time is really important for training/mentoring. I have no plans to move and really hope this wasn’t all a huge waste of time.

I currently have an offer from both IBM and TCS for database developer role. IBM's package is a slightly less than what TCS has offered. While my plan is to join TCS but i have no clue about what project/account i will be onboarded to. I am very much comfortable in my current organization and they have agreed to match the IBM offer. Hence, i am slightly confused.

Is there any way HR or recruiting partner at TCS can give the details around my project? Im left with 40 days of notice period.

Hello all, I’m currently in the interview process with EY. I’ve already had my interviews and the next step would be an offer letter or rejection.

I reached out to the recruiter a week after my final interviews, and they responded saying this “I am awaiting next steps from the hiring partner at this point.”

Can someone expound on what that could mean? Is that a positive sign of receiving an offer?

I got an offer, a once-in-a-lifetime offer that I can’t pass up. Any advice on how to break the news to my current CW? We were hired at our current and previous agencies as a team. How will this effect them in their current role (besides needing to find a new partner)?

We are both (newly) at the senior level.

Any specific things to ask before accepting a counsel position in a firm? The hours and type of work seem ideal; there’s no expectation of business development; and I can WFH 100% of the time if I want. There’s also an opportunity to be considered for partner in the future.

Looking for some advice.
I'm currently applying to roles at other companies as I want to expedite my move to the next level.
I'm not unhappy at my current company but I only want to stay if I get a promotion. Promotion would come into effect in March 2022 and so wouldn't want to wait that long if I can get another role quicker.
Has anyone got experience in speaking to a partner before handing in resignation to see if they will offer a promotion out of promotion cycle? Continued..

Had a really weird interview with RSM recently that’s been bothering me. For my last interview, I spoke to the partner. Towards the end of the interview, he asked me my salary range. I gave him my range based on my conversations with the recruiter and my understanding of the role. EY what is the leveling in Banking, Capital Markets from SM to Partner? Your sis here is being recruited for an SM role in NY. Sis wants to bolster leveling/comp as much as possible, and wants clarity on sales targets for SM/Director roles.

Interested in some data points on Big Law L&E senior associates moving to a non-equity shareholder position at Littler or Ogletree without a book of business. For those with knowledge, have you noticed any advantages to making the switch around Year 9 as opposed to waiting a few more years (Year 11/12)? I’m still on partner track at my Big Law firm (with no book) but am skeptical about whether I’ll make it, so I’m curious if it’s better to switch now or wait to see if I get pushed out.

How do you get your client to hire you? I know technically they aren't supposed to poach you... But if they're looking for someone to fill a role you're super qualified for and willing to double your salary... How do you subtly imply to them that they should talk to the partner so they can poach you 😂

Shoutout to KPMG for the worst recruitment process. I get referred in July and two weeks later I’m told I’d get an interview, I wait almost two months and then reach out to the partner because I was really interested in the role, and finally set up an interview. It takes a month to schedule the phone screen and then I have the final rounds. I follow up because I have an outside offer and I get no response. Recruiters repeatedly missed interviews, and then random team members joined the interview

Does anyone know how it works if you refer a potential audit client based on your personal network and the firm wins the audit? As a non partner, being in a non-audit group within the firm? Is there any kind of referral bonus or are you just building reputation and goodwill by doing this?

equity model. 20 years of experience,
living in medium cost of living location.
I'm looking to finally get comped
according to the value I bring. Any

splits I should strive for at Microsoft?
Maybe negotiate level 68? Maybe 200k

equity? Or $1M OTC? Thoughts?

Second year Associate (9 YOE/MBA)

Offered a Director of Strategy role in a fun and fast growing industry (think media/tech/entertainment). Total compensation is $260K (180K base, rest is RSU and bonus)

Currently I am up for EM in ~6 months and TC is ~$220. I’m not excited by my current job, but I don’t hate it either.

I think the new opportunity is in an exciting space but not sure if I’m doing the right thing by leaving at this point of my tenure (not interested in becoming a Partner) Help?

How should do you leave your firm? Letter or in person to supervising partner? I was recently offered a position which pays almost 40% higher doing exactly what I want to do (L&E). I have been at my current firm for about a year and I feel bad because they pay market rates and have treated me really well.
