Analyst at Accenture, offered a position in the Identity & Access Management space with a small consulting company. I will be taking a pay cut but will get good work life balance & the option to work in a different state while living with my life partner. More over I will get a sense of direction in my career cause I'm already 29 and I will still be a generalist by the time I'm 30. I'm not too keen on what I'm doing at Accenture at the moment anyway. What do you think? Is it worth it?

What can I expect for an OTE (base plus variable/commissions) for a director level partner development role managing a portfolio of GSIs? I’m based in NYC. It seems like many of these roles are at a 60/40 split (some sample companies I’ve talked with: google cloud, Microsoft, salesforce, twilio). I’m negotiating an offer and would love some insight on whether I’m getting a fair package.

Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. Starting in a junior BD Rep role to learn prospecting and earn quota history. Took a big paycut for the potential future earnings as an Account Exec. Did I dun goof? Probably. But I’ll regret it forever if I didn’t take my chance now when I’m still single and young-ish.

Sounds like a pretty high level role, but I have been duped before. Def would not want to leave UHG for Wipro for a small jump. TIA!

One of my seniors is lateraling. The partner went to offload his work on me on Friday and used the opportunity to slightly diss the firm (don’t know why he is doing this/turnover at that firm is high etc.). Thing is, I also applied and interviewed at this firm for another position (mid-level) and didn’t get the job. Should I make anything out of this? (Cont’d)

Which exit opps do not involve selling/fundraising activities (or at least have less) at the highest ranks? It seems like most high paying jobs (IB/Consulting/PE/Law for example) at the partner or partner equivalent level are mostly sales.

What are the different skill sets needed to be an analyst vs. a partner in consulting? Is it possible to be good at one role but bad at the other?

New partners in big 4: do you think big 4 partnership is still worth it now that many big 4 firms are no longer offering lifetime pensions? How did you decide whether to stay or leave? And is there an ideal time to leave (like as a director vs. 1st year partner vs 5th year partner) based on vesting of benefits, exit opportunities, etc?

I Would really appreciate some perspective on risk/reward of being an audit partner form those in the partner role. Is it worth it? Would you rather be a CFO? Own your own small business? As someone close to taking the next step, I see the increasing complexity of large global audits on a collision course with the commoditization of audit services and that is scary.

I realized that for the past 3 years I’ve been just doing my job with no end goal in mind. I wanted to do 2 years in public accounting then leave for a more operational/big picture role or get into sales. At that point the firms big push was to do the CPA, so I did it thinking it would change my life, then they started talking up making manager, made it and nothing changed and so on. Have no aspirations of making partner or CFO. I’m goal oriented and....

Two opportunities - go back to Big 4 for a run at partner (mediocre pay, lots of partner support) vs FAANG technical role, higher pay but not as high level as I would have liked as a consulting exit...

The guilt I felt when the partner was talking about his vision about my role, after I decided to leave the firm in 1 month and can’t tell him yet....

What’s the best *realistic* path for a big 4 senior manager to make as much money as possible? Understanding that at this point it would be tough to exit to high finance, PE, etc. Should one pursue the Partner path, or are there more lucrative industry options? Asking for a friend.

Does anyone have experience/anecdotes moving into a corporate development role at a relatively senior level? I’m a 7th year in M&A/PE thinking ahead to when I don’t get advanced to non-equity partner after 8th year. I worked in finance/business for several years before law school, and having done deals for this long I think a non-legal corporate development role is the best outcome for me. I’m thinking of prepping for the GMAT and MBA as a path to transition and break from the grind.

I am a new Manager and Partner is not leaning in very heavily at times, despite my efforts to keep them in the loop constantly. There’s been no issues/going well but I am concerned that I am not getting their thought partnership and seasoned eye given I’m new to this role. They may say “I trust your judgement” and don’t typically provide proactive guidance - only when I ask they weigh in. I don’t want to mess up and idk what idk. Just wanna do good job.

I had a final interview with a partner and the recruiter wants to do a debriefing call. Im assuming it can be just feedback or another interview is needed? I don’t see it being a rejection via phone. It’s for a senior manager role at EY

Help: I had 2 interviews with a firm and I showed moderate interest in the position - I thought I was in a good position with my current firm and maybe I could negotiate a signing bonus. Last week a partner in my PG pulled a major d*** move on me and I now want to leave immediately.

I only overlapped with a partner for a couple months at a firm last year before he left. It was a small firm and my cubicle was near his office so he knew who I was but we never worked together. I’m looking for a new job and noticed his new firm is hiring.

I need help please. Someone gave my name to a Parnter at KPMG for a position. I contacted that partner on Linkedin with my CV and he forwarded my CV to the recruiter at KPMG. The recruiter contacted me to organize a call, between her and myself, to discuss the different opportunities they have. My brother is also interested in joining that same company. While I am on the call with the recruiter, can I ask if they need someone for the position my brother is interested in?

Interviewing at SM level at Big4 in Risk Advisory. Some say that going into the role without consulting experience or a solid network is career suicide.

I am a 7th year in a new role. My on boarding has been spotty due to workload/covid and I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m going to have to learn my new role independently and sink or swim. Admittedly I was a little off this morning, and had a hard time finding the will to bear down and work. A Partner reached out to see if I was okay. I was honest, and said I was in a bad headspace this morning.

What I thought was a nice gesture of checking in turned into "you can't be in a bad headspace and expect to keep your position" and "we are ready to let you go."

Trying to align McKinsey with my other interviews so hoping people here can give me a better idea. Also spoke with a senior partner a few days ago who said timeline shouldn't be an issue (after I explained everything) , but not sure if they actually looked into it or not.
