How do I not get jealous? Of my friends from college got pulled from ey to EYP with only 1 yoe. Got promoted and now about to make 170k with 2 yoe total. She’s on an internal role and just does pmo and works maybe 930-5? All due to the fact a partner she was working with on an event said I like you, join my team. I’m making half of that and we studied the same thing and went to the same uni

What other lines of work exist that still (some) operate under a private partnership / LLP? Seems that EY and PwC partner path is only getting longer with less upside. Anyone aware of any exit opps to smaller private firms (consulting or otherwise) which might be a more direct path for high performers?

AD partner and I are applying for an in-house position in Chicago (remote). We have 7 years experience (4 with each other). What should our respective salaries be?

Have 2 options I’m evaluating. Heart is set on going into tech, but also worried about career progression and $.
A) jr partner at boutique firm = TC 400k (cash)
B) FAANG strategy = TC 250-300k (cash + equity)

Non-$ Pros for FAANG: WLB likely better, can always come back to consulting, break into tech / open up new exit opps

If $ was the same I’d choose FAANG

Been looking for B4 exit opportunities, but when I find opportunities I always start 2nd guessing myself on whether to leave. Then if I pass on a opportunity (because comp / role isn’t a fit or they pass on me), I feel defeated and keep thinking “can’t wait to leave.” Ultimately, while I think I could make Partner at B4, I really don’t want the “always on call” and daily grind that comes with it. Anyone else have this inner conflict that feels like a lose-lose?

Need career advice - not sure whether I will make partner/ director at big 4. Decided to have some backup options. Started a real estate investment venture and made a nice exit, since real estate appreciated very well. Probably good for life or even more. What should be my next move? Should I go back to big 4/ become a full time entrepreneur/ try in the industry/ try at IBM. IBM is hard to crack. Solid big 4 consisting / sales experience/ finance expertise / MBA from good school/ nobody at IBM.

Move from sales strategy / biz ops to biz dev or partner manager roles? I want to move closer to the revenue side in order to make more money and think that a partner manager or biz dev role could be cool but can’t get past a few interview rounds and the feedback is always that I have not done the role before. Since there are no classes / trainings on biz dev, am I forever doomed to not be able to pivot into this? Frustrated because I can’t fix that I have not done it before.

I was reached out by the Sales Enablement team at Google for a Business Partner Lead role (L6). I am currently an M4. Could anyone please tell me if this is the right alignment for M4 and if any insights into the Sales Enablement team? TIA.

Brand new M here (officially I guess I’m not). How do I tell my SM that she should let me take care of the project? Mostly because I don’t think she’s doing a very good job and she’s unable to address tough client questions properly. I’ve run entire engagements before, one with her as the SM and she played the normal hands off SM role. The partner wants to grow this account so I think she feels compelled to play a larger role. Does anyone have any tips to get into Prod Mgmt at Salesforce? I worked at SF a few years ago in CSG, and later at an SI partner also in customer success, but have made the transition to the product world. My long term goal has been to be a PM at Salesforce but I’ve found it impossible to get back in, in this different role. It also doesn’t help that Workday says I live in Denver when I live in the Bay Area, and it won’t let me change it. Afraid I’ll spend next 5 yrs trying to get back in..

For those who negotiated salary when getting promoted, what was your approach?Did you have another offer? How did you come up with comparable position salary and how did you communicate this to Partner during comp call?

I am a L2 up for IC role which I am optimistic about getting.
I am sincerely worried that the typical raise this year will not take into account inflation from stimulus and price increases. Focusing on salary only, switching firms seems like a no brainer unless salary match

I’m a senior associate at an Amlaw100 firm in a specialty group. The vast majority of what we do is compliance, with a deal sprinkled in once in a while. Thinking of lateraling to an Amlaw 30 firm because the comp gap is enormous. I’m solidly on partner track at my firm - next 2 years or so - but the pay at the other firm is higher than the junior partner at my firm. New role would involve significantly more deal work. Any insights on lifestyle changes going to a specialty deal support position?

Got final interview with 2 ppl from Deloitte yesterday, 1 is a manager and the other is a partner. I think I did well with the manager.For the partner, he asked 2/4 questions that I did not prepare so did not answer as well as expected. He stopped asking me after just 10 mins with those 2 questions. Given that I have some strengths from my resume ( high gpa, passed cpa) and fluent communication,friendly manner. Any hope? Position: Audit staff.

I'm having a few informal/informational interviews with some folks at my spouse's company (he's also in product/strategy role) - would it be crazy to work at the same company, on similar but not the same team, as your partner/spouse? Will I regret it? Any tips from people who have been there?

Was contacted by Slalom recruiter with an interesting opportunity. I'm not looking to leave current role would be interested if it could align with some of my passions and move my career forward. I'm currently on the partner path but realistically would probably be two years out. What's the equivalent at Slalom for partner?

I’ve accepted a new role at a tech company and it’s an L7. I should be happy to have this, but I not excited about the role and have this sense of dread about it. That I’m (1) going to f*** it up (2) end up working 80-90+ hrs per week like at BCG, and (3) that my career is over. I’m 40 and was told I would not make MDP (equity partner) last year and was exited. I’ve been realizing my mistakes and how stupid I’ve been about things over the past few years and can’t seem to stop beating myself up.

Does McKinsey and BCG go for external hires for the “Principal” role (level below MD/Partner) Or is everyone home grown at this level.

Partner told me today year end review prep that promotion to next level depends on all the people “in line in front of” me who “have been waiting longer”. I was asked if it’s fair that someone who has been in the role longer is passed over for a junior person who is younger and less tenure. Do big firms even pretend that performance and progression matters? Why work hard if all one has to do is sit and wait until the next one up?

Whats next after MBB? Just joined and want to plan next moves. Any advice is appreciated! What are some pros and cons or staying til partner vs exit opps. What are common exit tracks that ppl take?

I recently gave my small firm notice that I am leaving and moving to another state. I mentioned that I am considering starting my own practice in the new area, and the managing partner suggested that I transition to an “of counsel” position at a 1099 hourly rate (remote) while I got started. I thought the rate was a bit low, but I’m not sure what to compare it to. Anybody have any experience with these arrangements? Any advice on how to structure? Or if it’s worth it? Any input is appreciated.

What does transitioning from entrepreneurship > top VC fund look like? Seems like they usually come in at the partner level, but what kind of background would they need? Would say a 7-figure exit mean much? Low 8-figure?

What’s the average salary for VP / Partner role in Genpact?

Applying to a new position with my partner. All the interviews have been together. For the money talk, should we do that together or approach it solo. Im confident in my negotiating skills and don’t want them to mess it up, but i don’t necessarily have a reason to think they will.

Anyone else exit but feel disappointed they didn’t have the grit to make Partner? I couldn’t even make it to EM and quit for an okay exit but feel like I gave up a path to 7 figures and that I’ll max out at around 200k TC forever

Completed all rounds of PWC interview until partner for a Manager position. I guess it went well. Most likely up for promotion this mid year at current firm. Should I leave my comfortable position at Accenture and venture out for a possible significant bump in salary ? What am I possibly getting myself into.I am also on H1b.

Interviewing for an Associate Partner role at MBB, currently big 4 SM with base at $240k. What would be a good base? The range online is pretty vast. 11 yrs consulting experience + 5 years industry prior to consulting. Thanks

Partner/MDs: in which year of your partnership/role did you hit the $1M gross income? Would you mind sharing? I heard the average is Year 5-6 for Big 4/ATK/OW etc partners and Year 3-4 for MBB. Is that directionally accurate?

Tomorrow is my interview with the partner. Still have two rounds after but this will be the case and I anticipate the most challenging. I’m incredibly nervous. I’ve been shooting for this role for the past 2 years.

So had an interview at an AM50 firm (early) mid-March. Talked with about 8 attorneys/partners and it went super well overall. No dull or awkward moments, everything flowed. They said they wanted someone to fill the position soon, but had no timeframe on it because the partner was super busy. Flash forward to now - still no news. I have followed up twice and the response is always "no updates yet, but I'll keep you posted." They clearly are not interested. Why keep me in suspense?!
