🐟 - any insights on an expert role in McK? I am an executive in a small consulting firm.
1. Is it worth moving to MBB as an expert? I’ve heard mixed reviews about growth and exit opportunities.
2. Are the interviews still case based?
3. is it a respectable position McK?
4. Would it ever make partner as an expert?

Thinking about trying to find a full-remote job due to my partner applying to residencies at a lot of hospitals not in cities I could transfer to or that don’t have any Big4 at all. Is there anyone out there who’s done or is doing something like this? How do you like it? How did you find it?
Background: I am in Accounting Advisory Services, and love technical accounting so might struggle with a basic accounting position at a small company, but not sure what else to look for in my situation.

I am interviewing for a Senior Manager position at Accenture. I understand SM go straight to Managing Directors at ACN. Any advice on things to ask for so I can make sure I’m on the right trajectory to MD? Also, what should I be asking for — do they have a “partner track” or anything?

Need advice for an interview for a mid-level consulting position with a partner tomorrow. From what I understand it will be an hour long behavioral interview which I think is pretty long. First interview was a pretty straightforward behavioral interview with a director. Not sure what to expect. Any questions I should ask in particular?

Went through the first round interview at EY w 2 managers, with HR saying that I'll be due for the next round with Partner or Associate Partner soon (this was mid December 2020) - just got updated that they have chosen to proceed with another candidate 😭😔 Really wanted this role to pan out - numb doesn't come close to how I feel right now

As a D/SM in Financial Audit (13 YoE), what are some of the popular and realistic exit opps? Dir of Financial Reporting? Dir of Technical Accounting? What’s the TC range for these roles? Anything 250-300TC? Or is that VP level? I’m debating on whether I should stay for partner (was strongly hinted that my runway is in the next 2-3 years) or exit to industry? Current TC is ~180 in Tier 1 city. TIA!

Job Not Providing Structured Training which is what made the position attractive during recruitment. I’m learning everything by myself and moving at a glacial pace. I’m upset, demoralized, and isolated. My managing partner is overcommitted and seems to have forgotten that I was promised 1-1 mentorship. I don’t want to go back to my old firm, but I am super salty. I asked a question my first day and was met with, well that’s a disconcerting question (it was about client docs) Any encouragement?

Hey I am being pushed to take up a back office role and give up my clients to others . My partner says it’s for my security as market is bad and they may start firing people .... but I am not convinced . If I don’t take this option may be 1 year later when they really decide to fire people this role may not be available . What can I do?

I got an offer from D, Sr. manager position. HR emphasized that it will take me 4+ years to get MD / partner level. Is this valid or is the HR just setting my expectation level low

My partner (along with his team) has been laid off from an equity research role. He is on H1b visa and has until end of February to find a new job otherwise he’ll have to leave the country. What are the exit options like from big law litigation? I had always intended to apply to USAOs, but their hiring is extremely competitive and I’m geographically locked in where I am due to family. I don’t want to become a partner at my firm, but I’m afraid in house positions are largely geared towards corporate folks. Any advice?

Is it too forward to request to be considered for a Tax Senior position for after this tax season?

I was let go this morning under some ambiguous circumstances (the hiring partner implied it was in part because there wasn't work for me and in part because of my performance, but refused to give any more explanation). I received generally very positive feedback at work, but had already started the job search in December because of the light workload. I have been working with a recruiter. Should I reach out and tell the recruiter what happened and do I tell them about the unclear circumstances?

What are the exit opportunities for junior partners into industry like? Or should I jump the ship now as a early Senior Director (level below partner at EY Parthenon)?

I am an HR Business Partner at my current company but have been afforded a few human capital consulting opportunities with various big 4 firms. I don’t think I’d want to make a career out of it given the long hours, however I’m contemplating accepting the role and doing consulting for 2 years and then going back to industry. Is this a practical path? How hard is the transition from consulting to industry and what sort of roles have ppl landed that did transition to industry? Would love advice!

Fishes, happy new year! Targeting to go back to India in 5 years - figuring out what needs to be done professionally and financially. Professionally, I can stay on course and become partner but don't know what exit options in India would be like. Probably not even worth going through the grind now. So thinking of moving to industry although I like consulting. Thoughts? Financially, already have 2 cr worth assets in India and planning to have 5 cr more by the time I leave. Thoughts?

Recently began an exciting and challenging position in a new area of law for a corporate client. I was recruited for the position and made a point that I would need training in new area of law. Everyone agreed. Weeks in, the partner I was hired to work for is perpetually unavailable and increasingly annoyed at my questions. I know they’re busy. But what can I do to earn their trust if I can hardly get any attention?

Hey fishes! I applied to a BCG Asia office 12 months ago with a partner referral & got auto-rejected. I didn't really know the partner well but he offered to refer me anyway after a 10 min call. I'm not sure if I got rejected because my profile sucks, or because I'm not from that Asian office/got an impersonal referral from the partner.

How long would one typically need to be a partner to make it "worth it?" I'm expecting to be considered in 2-3 years but also have lived a modest lifestyle and we likely could retire comfortably in 10 years or so at my current salary/position. Part of me wants to focus on spending more time with my family rather than being laser focused on being a partner. Most of our partners seem to stay until mandatory retirement at 60.

Partner is threatening to sue because the job offer is from a direct client that I work with. I’ve received legal counsel and have no apparent liabilities in any of my or my clients contracts (non-compete, non-solicitation, etc.). Unfortunately, that doesn’t prevent me from getting sued because I still have to defend it. Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation?

Would love some advice. Currently at MBB ~1.5 yrs into roll out of undergrad. Currently have a strong offer in tech and am considering taking it. Am hesitant because ive done well in consulting and feel like I may miss out on something by leaving but don’t think I’d be able to get a much better exit for another year+ anyways. I’m highly interested in tech and know I don’t want to be a consulting partner. Any advice?

Left BCG a few years back for a VP role at F500. Not sure I want to relocate for an SVP promotion (family and dual career reasons) and considering going back into consulting.

Wondering what title/level I should aim for at different firms? Is Partner or MD a possibility?

Is there any point in making partner if you don’t want to be a partner? I feel like I’m close enough that I should just gun and I can probably make partner in a couple years. I really just want to exit, but I don’t see that being an option for 1-2 years for various reasons.

I am with a B4 and on the partner pipeline (probably in 2 years). Have an offer from a successful tech start-up for the slightly higher base and variable comp (last year average for this role was 2.5x base) and options. I really like consulting and wasn't looking to move. Not knowing anything else, what are your thoughts? What questions should I ask?
