I moved to FAANG a year ago. What in your opinion is the best way to prep for layoffs? I just heard a few leaders in another vertical got laid off because they didn’t hit their targets. I’m not very concerned but still wary. I know I can prob head back to consulting but just covering all bases. Really like my job right now.

Why were you fired?

I think I’m going to be fired tomorrow morning and I am not even sad about it.

A consulting company fired me. It was allegedly for performance reasons but there was no warning. When I asked specifically what issues they meant, the people firing me just ended the conversation and that was it. Anyway, how do I tell the story of what happened? Obviously, I'm biased but I don't believe the official line that it was just for performance reasons. If I say I was laid off, won't people say I'm lying because company sources are claiming that there haven't been layoffs?

Does anyone know how the Looker team is within Google Cloud? Trying to find more about work life balance and job security regarding layoffs.

I get the feeling some companies are using the wave of tech layoffs as cover to get rid of low performers and cut costs. I have no doubt that many companies need to make these cuts. But some companies, Microsoft for example, are hiring tech folks like crazy and heavily recruiting while doing these layoffs. I don’t blame them, low performers are costly and kill teams. I just think it’s something to keep in mind, there’s a bandwagon effect here. Not every tech company is in dire straits.

Hi, I had been laid off several weeks ago and because of eagerness to find a new job, I had sent out several apps to companies with positions I qualified for. However, I was screened out immediately due to my resume.

Because of this, I had revamped my resume to better showcase my qualifications after having colleagues review and provide feedback.

Hi there, I have sent out 70 ish apps to Consulting firms with no response and I hope someone can give me advice on what I think is the issue.

I was at my 1st company for 3.5 years before switching to another Consulting firm but at the 2nd company I had only stayed for 7 months due to being presented with a unique opportunity at a tech startup. However, I ended up getting laid off only 8 months in and now I am trying to think about how to explain the short time spent at the last two companies.

Heard there was some milestones drama on here last night? Someone got fired? Can someone fill me in while I work through lunch?

I was laid off recently from my role as my firm declared insolvency. I had an interview with Deloitte today (My background includes tier 1 graduation, work experience with investment banking firms as well as consulting firms) and the interviewer thought that they could arm twist me. The interviewer was rude from the start, didn’t let me finish sentences, treated my work experience lightly and later told me that the work is tedious and she doesn’t want me complaining later. How do I get fired? I realize this is a hot take, but I've been considering exit opps... what if I just zoned out and sucked so bad in my role that they counseled me out? A few months severance while I look for something else sounds ideal. What's the down side?

Laid off, 8 mo savings (not including investments I could sell off) at current burn rate, spouse still works low six figs, have dog and a mortgage. New job starts in 4-8 months. What do I do in meantime?

I am in the middle interview process with few employers and been actively seeking a new opportunity for past few months. I also very recently got laid off from my current position. I was on PIP and got fired last week. On Friday I get an email from HR saying - as notified my last day was Friday and I have been terminated from my role due to “poor performance”. Just curious if HR should say it like that instead of something like unsatisfactory performance?

Struggling with my mental health. MBA hire and started at MBB 4 months ago. I interned at another Tier 2 and was given no return and brutal feedback (stick to only entry level analyst-type work.) Now, I'm on a complex project, and although my manager has been giving me good feedback, I feel this is a lie and the team secretly hates me. I still go through extreme stress everyday where I feel I am underperforming and will be fired next cycle. Therapy/meds don't help. Anyone else go through this?

You’re out here stressing the hell out of yourself…working late…sleeping late…ignoring your mental health, family and friends…and then when mass layoffs hit…it doesn’t spare you! Take care of yourself dawg…these companies don’t care!

2. Amid layoffs, how is this group in Deloitte doing.
3. How soon they generally start the Green card process for an h1b holder.

I don’t understand corporate tax at all. If Twitter files for bankruptcy, does it still need to pay severance packages?
