Has anyone ever worked as a staff attorney position at an AmLaw 100 firm? Is the position worth it? (I.e. what’s the experience and work like?) And what’s the salary range? I’m a third year litigator looking for a position with less stress and more work life balance. Any thoughts? Thanks

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). This is my 3rd year in public accounting and I did not get promoted. My other co workers got it. The raises was a joke and My base salary is low. I want to look for another job But I’m worried that I will be a staff again at the new firm. Should I wait another year and get promoted to a senior and leave? Or try to look for one now? Don’t get me wrong I am grateful that I have a job during this pandemic. I just feel like I’m doing something wrong.

What is the hierarchy at your company and the salary differential for each position? We have staff attorney, associate general counsel, assistant general counsel, deputy general counsel, and then general counsel. Thx. I would guess that the ranges are about $25k differential per position.

Currently small market tax Staff making $55k and expecting the 7.5% raise to Senior in October. Could make $70k plus a bonus at another opportunity in town. Interviewing with a company and agreed upon a salary with the recruiter. Now the recruiter is saying the company will agree upon the salary, but pay me reduced for a set-agreed time, which would likely bring me under 100k. This company also recently cut 20% of its staff. Any advice to navigate through this? It’s an employer market and they are spoiled for choice.

I have a new opportunity with a staff to contract type small consulting firm. I am currently with a mid size firm where I am very underpaid. The new opportunity is offering almost 40% more in salary. I love my current firm and team/project despite being underpaid and not valued for all I bring to the table (education, experience, etc). Lots of pros and cons. I have questions for EY Tax technology and transformation team. I am getting promoted this year as a tax senior and thinking of switching firms. I do have a tech background (info sys/data science) with knowledge on basic programming languages which i am certain that i forgot most of them.. Will they still pick me up as a senior or would i have to go down as a staff level? Also curious about what they do & their compensation.

Joined EY early this year as a S2. We have no staff on our team, so the past few months have been nothing but grunt work. I’m expected to take responsibility for the projects but I’m spending 75% of my time rotating PDFs etc.

One of my senior managers told me, her starting salary was 58k back in 2006. How is it staff are only making 60k now.. that doesn’t even allow for inflation!
