I am totally exploiting the “threat” of COVID to avoid going to a monthly CLE that I am supposed to be attending in person. The meeting is going on, live, in person, no masks, etc. But they still offer a zoom link. So, I’m streaming it at home (mic and camera off) while I clean the kitchen, make food, eat, and post this confession. Totally used it as an excuse to come home early and not have to go way across town in traffic.

So I’m currently looking for another role within IBM. I apply for this job online and Slack the hiring manager letting them know of my interest and that I would like to chat with them about the position. Here’s the problem: I got an automated email notification saying I’m no longer being considered for the role and they are no longer hiring for the role. The hiring manager still scheduled time on Tuesday to talk to me?! Umm, what exactly are we gonna talk about if the role doesn’t exist anymore?

People who want to be 100% remote forever....you really want to spend the rest of your life on Zoom?

Fair warning this is a rant. This fking person on our team blows up our slack on the weekends every weekend without fail. For the dumbest sht too, nothing that can’t wait for the work week. Do you have no life or are you that big of a try hard to let everyone know you’re on call on the weekends?? Give it a break. Do I need to say something? Just chill out and live your life. I’m 4 bourbons deep and dreading Monday so this pissed me off 10x that I’m getting his stupid notifications on a Sunday.

Starting to miss the days where Slack didn’t exist so that when I was out of the office it actually felt like I was out of the office. I silence my notifications but end up getting nervous and checking them anyway.

Had a weird interview on Zoom.
Hiring manager cut me off mid sentence and put up her hand, saying she'd heard all she wanted to hear. Like forcefully, saying "enough enough, I heard what I wanted" in a loud annoyed tone.
She moved me to the next round of interviews. But isn't that weird? Would you want to work for this person? If I can't get a sentence out now, what hope would I have of feeling heard once I work there?

How are lateral interviews in NY conducted these days? Via Zoom for all rounds?

Anyway I can force an “in a meeting” Skype status through Outlook? Any tips and tricks will be helpful.

I tend to have very little patience sometimes. For example, I’ll be on zoom and a colleague will ask questions revealing they have not prepared at all for what the task at hand is and I’ll struggle to restrain myself for firing out sarcastic comments and rolling my eyes. They are wasting everyone’s time by not prepping. I wish I could just not get fired up about about it - how can I work on this? Note: I’m not talking about analysts and 1st yr associates, but management/same level as me

Mystery Zoom between middle school Autism classes. Hey mod/ severe special needs teachers. I would like to have my class Zoom with another similar class for communication/ socialization. It could be a mystery where our classes are located and the students will need to ask questions to each other like what’s is your weather like? How do you handle constant Slack messages from coworkers asking the most ridiculous questions?

It’s like they haven’t taken the time to read existing documentation/search JIRA/Google things. I’m bombarded with many messages everyday, and I’m starting to get frustrated.

Trying to be as helpful as I can, but it’s like c’mon, you haven’t even tried to answer this yourself..🙄

I just have to post this. I am looking for work. I have a million resumes out there. Need to work from home, so ..some kind of customer service Tier 2 tech support type position. I just had an interview and an OFFER!! $35.00 an hour for DATA ENTRY!! They give you a Macbook Pro and an HP printer to use. They perform the interview on Zoom but in text form.

ummmm...my Spidey Senses were tingling. Then they ask if you want to be paid by direct deposit...and what bank(s) you use. UGH.

I have just completed 6 months in the system. Starting 4 months were fine but from past 1 month my manager is accusing me of being inefficient and rather not seeing that she himself remains offline for approx 3-4 hrs in a day. Whenever I complete my task I find she is not online and after half n hour she replies me back or says she was in a call but sign on zoom shows she was unavailable and in the evening accuse me of being inefficient "Aaj itna hi kiya". What can I do?

Anyone else seem to struggle to get anything done when you don't have a million things going on and the pressure isn't on? I feel like reasonable timeliness just encourage me to slack and I dont really know why that is.

We officially made it through Black History Month without my agency mentioning it ONCE in a company wide email, slack, or any other initiative whatsoever. They also never mentioned Lunar New Year!

This lack of awareness and care for employees has validated my recent job search. Has anyone else experienced this?
