Is anyone else having issues with GSuite? It was working fine this morning but now nothing will load. I’ve cleared my cache and restarted my computer and still nothing. And it’s not my internet because Outlook, Skype, and Teams are all working fine.

You know it’s bad when one of the team leaders (director-level) comes back from a week long vacation and everyone is absolutely overjoyed that they’re back. I’m talking multiple group slack messages and some actual applause during an all hands meeting😂

I spent the last 1.5 years of law school on “Zoom University” due to COVID (although I was technically at HLS). I feel like I left HLS with no close friends and am now working in Big Law in NYC (my firm totally cancelled our summer internship cause of COVID) and feel like I have no friends at work. I’m trying really hard to connect with people but it’s so damn difficult when I’m an outsider to begin with (first generation student, colored women, etc.). Just wanted to share - but

Found some questionable old emails (5 years ago) between my bf and a girl he’s never mentioned. She would call him “bae” and they’d Skype, and met up several times. We were dating for 2 years at that point. They don’t seem to be in contact anymore at least. Wish I could let it go but can’t help thinking about what else he is hiding

I know everyone says the best thing for your WLB is to completely remove yourself from work once the day is over, but I’m confused as to how people actually manage to do that. It’s a force of habit for me to refresh my inbox and slack even if I have notifications turned off. If I’m in the middle of working on a big project, it’s hard to just stop thinking about it.

Humanitarian stuff and personal feelings aside, I hypothesize that aid to Ukraine is an spectacular investment from a US policy perspective. Yes, there are short run costs at the pump and clear budget hits in the short term, but I suspect that the prospect of divvying up Russia's annual $100B energy revenue in Europe will do far far more than pay for itself. Plus there's Europe picking up some military budget slack in the years to come. Your takes, armchair economists who've done the homework?

Hey guys! I just received luckily enough two offer from two big companies: one as a Senior UX in SAP Concur and another one at Microsoft as a Designer II in Microsoft Teams. The role matters until a certain point to me. What does it matter is career and learning perspectives. Do you have any previous experience with one of the two companies? All feedback or comment is very much appreciated, thank you!

Did you fully dress up for zoom lateral interviews? Like suit and tie or dress shirt or maybe just a 1/4 sweater?

When someone pings you on teams or Skype - do you respond immediately or when you have time?

I have one colleague that expects a response immediately. Or if I ping them and they are busy, they get upset. They respond with “hold on” or “can’t right now”. When my message clearly says respond when you get a chance.

How would you dress for a zoom call to discuss a Sr. Dir. role with SVP who this role will be reporting to? It is a health care company but gives a start up culture vibe.
For context, I had a screen call with company's talent manager. She requested my resume and asked that the SVP wants to have a zoom call.

Is the blazer / slack (or suit, no tie) combo for men going to be considered out dated in the office or still a great look?

So, my husband and I work together. He's not my supervisor and we're in different departments but I have to interact with him in Zoom meetings a lot because we're both team leads in our respective orgs. Both of us in separate rooms acting soooo professional on this zoom call 40 minutes after I threw a coffee cup at the wall. WFH does NOT work for me and I don't know what do.

I'm the last person to complain usually, but a new person joined our team about a month and they are INSUFFERABLE in Zoom meetings. Classic teacher's pet, summarizing everything our manager says right after she says it etc and I can't stand it but I don't want to address it wrong and end up looking like the bad guy. Thoughts?

Fellow Consultants slack or Teams?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some help with streamlining our product process; specifically with receiving bug reports and feedback from customer success via slack. What is the easiest way to manage this and sometimes it’s overwhelming. Is Jira feature a good option? We use Jira at the moment for dev tickets. We also need to communicate the roadmap in an easy to understand way to business- not just the Jira tickets which seem like gibberish to customer success. Does anyone have any advice here?

Do I need to go on camera in zoom meetings?

Is it bad taste to interview on a Zoom call for an in house role in your work office? Is it better to take it at home?

I’m a first year transactional associate. I love tattoos, but so far have been getting mine in only places I can easily hide. I’m getting tired of that, though, and want to start moving onto my arms and lower legs (I’m a woman, and I do enjoy wearing dresses to the office especially in the spring and summer).

I don’t really face clients except on Zoom, and even post-Covid I don’t see that changing due to the nature of our meetings.

Would love to hear people’s thoughts.

I was interviewing with firms A and B. A offered. B kept delaying the interview and I accepted A. I did the interview with B out of curiosity after having accepted (stupid? Maybe, but I honestly didn’t think the interview would be rescheduled they were so slack and A was still a great opportunity). The interview finally went ahead and now I’m worried that firm B is the better firm for me. I already signed a contract with firm A to start next month. Can I get out and still do firm B?

Sunday rant: I think the laziest form of input solicitation is fwding an email or Slack message with a “Thoughts” appended to it. I feel the only adequate response is to reply with “Hmmm…”

Realized i love remote work and hate office work. Been back fully 4-5 days per week at client site for a year now and cant coop with commuting, client demand when face to face and just being there while joining still zoom calls.

In the market for over-the-ear headphones that work great with Zoom or Teams. Any suggestions?

Just received an email for 2nd video panel interview with IBM for 1.5 hours via webex, 4 ppl. 1st was 35 mins. 3 ppl. Any IBMers willing to shed some insight? How many rounds do they usually have candidates go through before identifying final/extending offer? And are offers pretty firm or is there room for negotiation?

What to wear for a zoom@interview for another big4?

The manager on the project I’m on has a 7am status call, 12pm status call, and 6pm status call. She also checks in via zoom every 2 hours between the status calls. I’ve never hated a manager so much in my life. Can’t wait for this project to end . Actively working with my scheduling to never be put on a project with them again.
