I hope you actually end up with a better counselor. Peer advisors don't actually matter all that much since they're technically only there to help with on-boarding. If I were you, I would make sure you just find out which senior managers and partners are responsible for scheduling. It worked wonders in getting me the experiences I wanted and the people I want on my teams and I'm only a senior.
If you hate your counselor, I would bring it up to a partner you feel comfortable with and do it in a democratic way. I let a partner know my situation and they were helpful with getting me a new counselor. Forming genuine relationships with people makes life a lot easier. Definitely try and find your way to the in crowd because life is 100x easier.

No I don't think so I just started lol. My initials are KT
Was it a difficult process to switch?
No I just filled out the information they sent us in an email. I needed to switch as I felt both of them were not helping me get ahead as I later found that others in my start class were able to find more work as a direct result of their counselor and advisor relationship.
@ey2, how did you find which senior managers and partners were responsible for scheduling in your office? Was it just within your family or the entire office?
What to do when you hate your counselor?
They sent an email out about changing it last week.
I work in the NYC office where my group is roughly 80 people. I found out by talking to various managers and partners. It takes a bit of networking, but it's not really a secret and there are a million factors that go into it. Also helps to have experience management on your side.
OP which office are you from? West by chance?
