ESPP or 401k better option? I know my 401k is ‘safe’ and tax free, but my company has a 30% a year (15% every 6 months) discount and is a very stable stock - Accenture.

Depends on your goals. For short term needs, the ESPP is great. If you’re more concerned about having a cushy retirement than buying a new house in a few years, max that 401k

like

Max both then withdraw the ACN stock immediately as it vests. 10-12% return post taxes just for having it locked up. Totally worth it, when I was at ACN I did this and just treated the ESPP as a part of my monthly savings.

like

Both. But if you can’t max both then at least get the 401k match. Hanging on to a portion of ESPP isn’t a bad option either provided you have a balanced portfolio. I still have some bought in years ago ~$40

like

What is the max?

Make 401K 6% match and 10% ESPP first priorities- both are free money and part of your total benefit package from ACN.

like

Correct, but really really make an effort to do 1 and 2 or else you’re costing yourself money. I used to max ESPP and sell every 6 months to pay down debt, and it helped me pay it down a lot faster than if I’d tried to put cash towards debt every pay check

I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

I am selling house and remodeling both master bath and kids bath. Got quote for 29k for both and I buy floors and cabinets.question is I have a very big whirlpool tub and tiles around it discolored. It’s a hassle to lift it up change the tiles and fixtures and put it back. It’s old but works great. Remodeling ppl recommend get rid of it, give space to buyers if they want to buy standalone tub. I thought it adds value to have whirlpool tub. But can’t even change fixture. Should I get rid of it?

I'm 1 year out of college and recently inherited $400k and have another $120k saved up from internships and work.

I know the standard thing to do is DCA into an index fund/ETF but is there anything else I should be doing to invest my money and hedge against inflation. I'm just concerned with the political turmoil going on and trying to figure out what ETFs I should be investing in and how much I should be putting in every week.

Let’s say you have two young, high income partners in a couple who want to buy a house together but don’t really care to get married. They already live together in an apartment but both want to move to a house to build equity and have a yard, not share walls, etc. Should one partner buy the house and the other pays rent until they get married, or should they get a mortgage together without being married? I realize there isn’t a “right” answer but I’m interested in people’s experiences here.
