Is it a bad idea to buy a home right before the election / with talks of a recession? It feels that the last 4 years a recession has been looming and it’s very confusing to navigate so many different opinions…should we wait for interest rates to go down in coming months? Or should we go for it and refinance later?

There are people who have been wishing for a recession for four years. It hasn't happened and probably won't. So don't let that cloud your thinking. If you worry about everything you'll never do anything.

I think if you find the right place, go for it and refinance later.

Personally, I have been waiting for the housing bubble to burst before buying. But I do live in an area where the housing prices are crazy. Even a small two bedroom home goes for well a million dollars abd I cannot justify paying that kind of money for something not worth it. I have been keeping my open for a good deal but it looks like I will be waiting a little while longer.

Can anyone of you please help in calculating how much will be my income tax per month(I am availing the Old tax regime)? Different IT calculators show different figures, not sure which is correct :(

And as for the interest amount in the Savings Account and Fixed Deposits, do both fall under "Income from Interest"? Or under "Other Income"? Or does Interest amount in Savings account fall under "Interest from Deposits - 80TTA"?

The figures are given in the screenshot 👇🏻

Does anyone have ideas on how to navigate a smaller team environment when everyone’s roles seem to be stretched (hiring for additional people has been taking a while, not sure why). The stress causes some tension and that’s probably not great for the overall morale of the company long-term. I try to ignore and just stay focused on what I need to do yet sometimes proves challenging. I worry it might affect my professional/career growth. Thoughts on this would be helpful, thanks!

If I see one more article on how millennials are ruining the economy or housing market by not buying enough homes or selling enough homes I'm going to scream. We were saving for 3 years before Covid and had to use a solid chunk to take care of ourselves and our families during quarantine. Now that we're ready to save again inflation and COL are at an all-time high and we're headed into a recession. And somehow this is my fault for what...not being a boomer? Bffr.

What’s a fair calculator to know your affordable mortgage?

One online have a wide range in what’s considered “affordable”
Pre bonus and equity I earn 110k/yr in Wash DC.
I’ve seen 33% net income, but honestly $1650/mo CANT even get a 500sqft condo on rent.
30% gross is $2750/mo 😱
Others say I can afford 600k houses but that seems irresponsible and ridiculous.
My current rent is $1750 for a small 1bd1ba (cheap) but I’m sacrificing my safety in my neighborhood. No frills apt.

Here’s my plan of attack:
- $30K saved right now ($20K in IBonds and $10K cash)

-$130K saved by 2023 and target a $800K home
