I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.
I was wondering if I have the necessary skills to transition into a tech sales role. If so, what would be the best role/fit for me?Amazon Salesforce Google @

I want both MBA and MBB. Just wondering if I should push back my MBA by a couple years if I can directly transition to MBB this year (I’m 24, so got some time).
Tbh some of my most successful colleagues were lateral hires from the big four so it’s definitely possible. From I’ve seen it seems like recruiters actually like bringing in really qualified experienced applicants. just try to stick to the regular recruiting cycle when you apply and get some referrals
They definitely do. Just saying I think it’s easiest to try to adhere to the fall recruiting cycle but I know interviews are done year round
T20 is an interesting phrasing. Borderline 20 ranked b schools don’t necessarily have MBB recruiters coming for on campus recruiting. T12-15 is probably as low as you want to go if MBB is your goal
Stern is definitely better perceived than the other 2 and I know we recruit there extensively. I’m sure there are examples of Cornell and UCLA MBAs at all 3 MBBs but you should ask what percentage of the class ends up MBB vs what percent recruits consulting and think about the implications for your odds of getting the offer.
I remember Owens at Vanderbilt trying to sell me and saying McK recruits there, but it was max 1 student every couple of years. Even if you’re a rockstar do you really want to fight those odds?
Its possible. I am at top 25. Both Bain and BCG recruit on campus and have several events for us and to “sell us” the company. You just have to be strategic about what office you want to interview for and network there i.e. go where most of the Alumni is going.
Also if you are going to a smaller school then you can network yourself a bit better and get the interview. Once you have the interview you are in the same playing as everyone else.
I am going to MBB after graduation and going to a top 25. Just work on your casing and networking.

Use LinkedIn’s search feature and search for current MBB’s with B4 as previous company. Then reach out to them.
It’s probably not unrealistic unless you have a very strong undergrad or good connections, but don’t know til you try
Both are tough paths. Both have examples of success. M7-T10/12 is about the limit for dedicated recruiting, with some variation in terms of national/regional/reach. Ie Kellogg will be fully recruited by WC offices, whereas Fuqua will see mostly South and DC applicants.

Can provide a perspective here. I transitioned after 3 years at Big 4 to MBB. Very doable if you have your story correct. Further, I went to Top 20 MBA program, and recruited for MBB again, and secured offers.
