Looking for generic advice: If I am right at the Roth IRA income threshold, would you guys recommend maxing out 401k first? Or setup the “backdoor roth”?

Any particular investment group would you recommend? Online research leads to fidelity as a good option for both HSA investment and Roth.

Tyia!

401k until employer match. Then Roth IRA. Then max out 401k/backdoor Roth.

Fidelity is good.

If this is strictly income, your AGI will be lower due to 401k and (even) HSA deductions

Hey friends. My wife and I are looking to start investing in the market outside of our 401ks, hsa etc. We opened a Charles Schwab brokerage account and planning to transfer 2-3k/mo. We’re in our late 20s/early 30 and likely won’t need to touch the money for 10+ years. What should be our investment strategy? How should we allocate to what funds? Thinking of splitting evenly across large, mid, small caps, and growth, value funds using DCA.

If anyone else has gone through something similar early in their career what did you do?

Question about what to do next. I’ve maxed out everything—401k, HSA, IRA, backdoor Roth 401k. My bills are all paid. I’ll probably make about 16,500 more this year to do stuff with (ie money that isn’t going to taxes or insurance or anything). What should I do with it? Crypto? Set it on fire? Get a hair transplant?

Home reno financing question. Have a big project coming up in the $120-150k range. Funding sources are:
- 90k from a heloc around prime
- 10k from a credit card that offers promo checks at 2-3% for 12-18 months
- 375k in a brokerage
- 5-6k per month cash that I can put towards the project, loans, or brokerage

I don't want to stop funding the brokerage because my FIRE plan is less numbers based than "hoard like dragon until it's enough" but maybe I should... How would you optimize?

I’m maxing out my 401K, traditional IRA and HSA this year and paying for some house improvements. I have about $750K total investments and very close to $2M net worth, but realize that I am behind on investments if I want to do FIRE. I was focused on paying off huge chunks of my mortgage and managed to whittle it down to $75K left. Would you suggest I go ahead and pay that off this year?
