What if this could be an opportunity teach art in some capacity until you decide to retire.
I just wanted to say I feel for you and this is an unfortunate situation. I'm 59 and while it doesn't sound like my issues are even close to yours, a few years ago I suffered a detached retina and subsequent cataract in one eye, and following surgery for that my depth perception and screen visual relationship has been "off" and it's a struggle. My entire career has been in digital - UX design and UX/digital marketing strategy - so I can't even imagine how my skills would translate to a no screen/very limited screen context. How long has it been since the concussion and how have you sought treatment? Perhaps what you are experiencing currently is just a "point in time" thing and may improve? Sorry I can't offer more other than empathy and understanding.
Thank you for the empathy! Right back at you, your situation sounds rough as well. I’m trying to stay positive, and really paying attention to my thoughts. Blessings to you.
So sorry to hear that. I understand you're trying to ditch screens but have you looked into light blocking screens/glasses? Something like a privacy screen or being able to lower the brightness at all ? Wonder if ADA could also be of use to you in this sutation when applying for jobs.
Docs don’t always recommend non medical or drug-based therapies/treatments. Similar to another commenter, I had two detached retinas before. Now I wear Gunnar Optic glasses (can be clipped on existing ones), and I also use Apple’s night mode. Using artificial tears regularly can also be helpful. And perhaps a 50-55 minutes on, 5-10 minutes off approach to screen time can also help. Good luck. And Happy Holidays!
Hi all, thank you so much for all of these ideas!. It might take me a minute to go through all of the comments. To answer a couple questions: It’s been Over a year and a half Since the concussion. Yes I’ve gone through medical and alternative Therapies to the tune of over 30 grand. While I have gotten somewhat better, I haven’t worked in seven months, And need to find something that I can do to generate income.
I wrote these quite a while ago and could still be of use.

A really interesting one to look up - especially the video is Kids Artwork Memory Canvas. Or some other people call an Heirloom Collage.
These days AI could spit out a boatload more than what I suggested. Turn you ChatGPT into life-skills-career coach and ask it to run through the process of interviewing/interrogating you through your experience, skills, interests/passions, ambitions and available time for it to generate relevant or inspiring career and business options to review. Then pick the options and ask for business plans/costs, market feasibility and profit/savings options tied to this.
Good luck 🐉

Art restoration, home design, garden design
I don’t have any leads, but if you have a connection through previous experience that could be a good way
how long ago was your concussion? there's a shorter term effect that fades after awhile, during which you need to rest your eyes to not make it worse, but it can improve or go away.
What about getting into furniture restoration? Or home renovation?
An often overlooked but viable goal, could be to use your aesthetic abilities to start doing property flips and renovations, and even acquire rental properties. I’ve found that my own sense of aesthetics has allowed me to rent at a higher amount than what I could with a run-of-the-mill renovation. Regardless, securing a few rental properties is a great way to generate income without having to do much. At a certain point, zelle payments come in without you having to do much at all. And you leverage the value of one, to improve or secure another. Rinse, repeat. And perhaps you can sell one or two later in your retirement. Lots of equity would be built at that point. Hope this helps.
