PSA: Your pregnant coworker is juggling fatigue, nausea, aches and pains and/or “pregnancy brain”, along with their workload in a pandemic. So if they’re performing as usual (or better), that’s nothing to sniff at. And if they’re sometimes not performing up to par, cut them some slack okay? Sincerely, your pregnant coworker who initially underperformed but is now kicking butt.

Hear, hear. Also what’s been frustrating is that most of my struggles took place my first trimester, when I was not going to tell anyone at work about my pregnancy.

100%. Anyone not cutting that slack is an a hole and not gonna make it far professionally unless surrounded by only other a holes.

For the OP 100% based on her facts that she has been doing well and working hard and contributing and now needs some slack while pregnant. For someone with different facts maybe not total slack.

And for the women in your first trimester trying to hide your pregnancy. Please learn from my big big big mistake and don’t push yourself like you normally would. You’re not “barely pregnant” you are in the most critical time for development. I pulled an all nighter while 3 months pregnant (partner knew I was pregnant) and my blood pressure climbed and never went back down. It did not end well and my inability to say no because of work expectations will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I am so sorry to hear this, and I completely understand the position you were in. It is so difficult to recognize that you’re in a critical stage of pregnancy, your capacity is different, and you need to put your health first (for once). It is even more difficult to act on that recognition whether due to lack of seniority, high workload, or general firm environment. Please don’t blame yourself. What happened is our burden, as a profession, to carry. This could have happened to any one of us (and it does).

Hey girls and mamas out there! I used to have beautiful curls before I delivered my baby and since then, the texture has changed despite me using the same products I used to. My hair feels thinner. I use Pureology hydrate as my shampoo and conditioner and curl my hair with Truss and Redken. I lately used herbal essences mousse and it seemed to work better than these $$$ products but still, I miss my old hair. Any tips? Thanks

I am having a bad day, my norm these days. So I am in bed, doing my Spanish lessons on Duolingo. Which means I am speaking Spanish outloud. My cat is loving this! I live alone with her and she is very social, loves to hear the voices of my Zoom meetings but this is so hilarious to be talking to my cat in Spanish and she is purring like a mad woman! First time I have laughed in a long time.

Does anybody know any solutions for having someone care for a mildly sick child? I have a 1-year-old in daycare and my wife and I both work. He is picking up various illnesses which is unfortunately not unusual for his age at daycare. If he has a fever he has to miss the following day of daycare even after the fever is gone. This is a good policy with covid but difficult for two working parents. Bright horizons used to provide care in this scenario but not in 2020 even with a negative covid test
