PSA: Your pregnant coworker is juggling fatigue, nausea, aches and pains and/or “pregnancy brain”, along with their workload in a pandemic. So if they’re performing as usual (or better), that’s nothing to sniff at. And if they’re sometimes not performing up to par, cut them some slack okay? Sincerely, your pregnant coworker who initially underperformed but is now kicking butt.

Hear, hear. Also what’s been frustrating is that most of my struggles took place my first trimester, when I was not going to tell anyone at work about my pregnancy.

like

Coworker = associate, assistant, clerk, etc.

like

100%. Anyone not cutting that slack is an a hole and not gonna make it far professionally unless surrounded by only other a holes.

like

For the OP 100% based on her facts that she has been doing well and working hard and contributing and now needs some slack while pregnant. For someone with different facts maybe not total slack.

And for the women in your first trimester trying to hide your pregnancy. Please learn from my big big big mistake and don’t push yourself like you normally would. You’re not “barely pregnant” you are in the most critical time for development. I pulled an all nighter while 3 months pregnant (partner knew I was pregnant) and my blood pressure climbed and never went back down. It did not end well and my inability to say no because of work expectations will haunt me for the rest of my life.

like

I am so sorry to hear this, and I completely understand the position you were in.

It is so difficult to recognize that you’re in a critical stage of pregnancy, your capacity is different, and you need to put your health first (for once). It is even more difficult to act on that recognition whether due to lack of seniority, high workload, or general firm environment.

Please don’t blame yourself. What happened is our burden, as a profession, to carry. This could have happened to any one of us (and it does).

For couples who are not married yet - Do you guys talk about net worth, income, or anything even finance related? I know my SO earns more given his current industry, but thinks it’s rude to talk about those things. But I’m wondering… isn’t it normal for couples who live together or are married share those info? For example - How am I going to know what to pay for our child’s education in the future etc?

I am leaving retail pharmacy after 15 years. I am opening a 403b pharmacy for a FQHC. I don't believe that retail pharmacy will be able to sustain itself with patient costs skyrocketing. I think people will become enraged or indifferent enough to allow the federal government to take over healthcare. How many times do we see people getting free prescriptions via government coverage that drive better cars than we do?

Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

The trusts and estates bowl is not very active, so thought I’d post here. We are in the middle of updating our will/trust. We don’t have any close family that could take care of our kids if we died. Our closest friend lives in Brazil. We would love to have her take care of the kids - but don’t know if there is any way around immigration laws to have that happen if she were willing to move to US. My Google searches haven’t turned up an answer.

I’m a private immigration attorney whose interested into transitioning into a high level federal government attorney position in the future (not in this administration). Ideally, I’d love to work in the solicitor general’s office.

I’m only a year or two into practice and am wondering if there are any tips to best position myself for this type of position? I don’t anticipate making any moves that way for at least 5 more years. No clerking experience or law review, so that’s -2 points for me
