I'm interviewing for a project manager position at a place that provides support for a prominent Bay Area tech company. I was approached by a recruiter from Planet Technology. The role is a 6 month contract, with the possibility of extension.

What's the minimum hourly wage I'd need to make in order to live comfortably and afford health insurance in San Jose? I'm 30 years old w/out kids. My husband is currently unemployed so this is assuming that I'm supporting us both.

I live in San Francisco & have been interviewing with a few companies for PR - both agency & internal positions. Salary negotiations have been based mostly on experience but also the fact I live in SF. Companies/roles based out of Los Angeles, Chi, NJ. Pls don’t laugh if a dumb question: does it matter if I move AFTER getting position? I’m fine adjusting to time zones. I’d love to have better quality of life with same salary but a city with trees + free parking + SEC football

Looking for a VP of Human Resources/CHRO for Health Care organization based out of San Diego, CA let me know if interested.

We keep talking about these huge FAANG salaries, but after considering cost of living, are they really paying that much more? For example, I would require a $550k/year in TC in San Fran and $695k in Manhattan to maintain my standard of living on my $250k TC in a low cost of living city. So are FAANG attorneys (senior counsel level) routinely making $500k + in cities like Chicago, Austin, etc.?

How much would you say is a fair base salary for Entry Level Data Scientist position for a candidate with MS in Applied Econ and proven skills in Python SQL and ML with 0-1 years of DS experience? For those of you live in states that require job postings to include the salary ranges, what has your experience been with asking and receiving amounts within the range? Is the strategy to ask for the top of the range and let the firm come back with their offer?
I’m looking at a job posting for multiple cities and it lists a range of $132k-253k for Denver and Las Vegas locations. I’m based in San Francisco, so in theory would that put the salary range like $160k-290k?

I grossly underestimated the sheer number of people that have rich parents. I grew up poor and have to make it on my own. All these people I know are getting homes (in San Diego where it’s impossible) bc they have rich parents giving them $200-400k down payments, weddings paid for etc. Damn im poor
