Anyone have thoughts on working at PE portco? Have an offer as a strategy & bizops associate at a company that is growing rapidly via acquisition. However, not sure where this would lead my career. Role reports directly to CEO and CFO, as I would basically be their handyman for integration and other ad hoc business needs. Ideally, I would like to leverage this experience to work for other PE portcos. Have 3.5 YOE.

I’m joining a newly developed corp strategy/new ventures team at a high growth tech company.

Currently the leader of the group reports directly to the CEO. Underneath that individual will be a senior manager and a manager. I was offered the manager position. Before I accept my offer I would really like to speak with the senior manager. Would it be out of line for me to ask to speak with them before I accept my offer?  apparently they’re still negotiating with that individual.

Would someone here be able to help think through exercising startup options? I’m currently partially vested at a Series C (soon to be D), and considering taking a new role at a seed stage (soon series A). Both companies are updating 409As now, and it sounds like early exercising at the seed stage company might be on the table. Current company is well-known, run by a famous CEO, has been around for a while, but isn’t profitable yet. I know that after 90 days ISOs turn into NSOs.

Jumped from biglaw pship to join ~$2B company <12 mo ago. Pitch was to come grow into GC role and have strategic seat at table. Quickly learned only opinion that matters is micromanaging CEO/controlling SH and rest of exec team kowtows to his desires as (even when wrong) plus general hostility for back office functions. Has killed long-term appeal of this gig. Trying to figure out next steps (stay a while, jump to another in-house gig, go back to private practice) and any advice appreciated.

Would you leave as a senior associate to be in a director role at an energy company “chief is staff” reporting to CEO and CFO. Leading investor relations?

Looking for advice. If my agency is hiring and would like to give preference to POC, but the CEO has been known to make racist comments...would you want to be told this by an interviewer? A sort of “enter at your own risk”? Everyone else at the agency is great, and we want to do the work to lift up POC. But the CEO is not going anywhere and will not change. We don’t want anyone to feel tricked or trapped in a toxic environment. Do we give up or give a warning? And how should we warn people?

Can anyone provide insight into IA roles for credit unions and insurance companies? Been interviewing and I’m unsure. For the credit union, I would be the only IA as it’s a new role they’ve created - they haven’t had any IA’s in the past as the duties were shared between depts. I would report directly to CEO. For the insurance company. The department consists of 3 senior auditors and a manager. I would report to the manager. They both seemed to be slower paced than PA which is what I want.

Had three interviews for a role at a startup and was scheduled for a final round with the CEO and hiring manager. The final round interviews were rescheduled once and now canceled due to calendar conflicts (always told the day of). I haven’t been told that I’m no longer being considered but is this a nail in the coffin?

Our company got a new CEO (onboarded today). I had a great relationship with the ex-CEO (I report to the COO who reports to the CEO). Now I am finding that some of the less competent people, who were not in favor with the previous CEO, are trying to maneuver and position themselves well with the new boss and it seems to be working. I’ve never been good at maneuvering, been more the type to wait for my work to shine through. Cont.

I have an interview with the CEO for an in house position which I found out will be in person. I am newly pregnant (issue in itself) what’s a good way to ask if there will be safety measures in place?

Interviewing for a chief of staff role at a startup that’s raised about $14M so far. What should I look for when assessing if this is a good opportunity?

Would work directly with CEO and expecting cash compensation of 100K and 0.25% of equity. Is the equity % low?

CEO hopes to sell at 100M, meaning the equity would be valued at 60K a year (4 yrs), but this seems optimistic to me.

Have been interviewing for a few months and have gotten mostly rejections so far. Now in the final stages with 2 companies... 1st is a FAANG where I have Individual contributor role at a senior level - 425 k tc (175 base + 250k rsu per year) and 2nd is a svp level role with large very well known tech consulting firm where I will report to ceo of my business unit with similar tc of 400k (325k plus 75k bonus.) I have 20 yoe. Which one would u choose if u r me.. assuming u get both offers?

Just saw a Sr Partner move to CEO role directly, while obviously good for them, what motivates this instead of hiring from the ranks? Historically, how successful has it been?

Curious what kind of exit ops I should look for if GL accounting doesn’t interest me at all. I was always wanting to shoot for CEO rather than CFO. Currently a new tax manager, but started my career as an auditor. I like my job other than the high hour peaks.

I’ve been at FB as a client solutions partner for 2 months. I initially turned down startup earlier for FB but I’m not in love with my role at FB since I want to do product. Startup I initially rejected told me there’s an PM opening. They are aware ive been at F but I’ve told ceo in the past that I’m not happy since I want to do product which is why he reacted out. I want to do product long term - should I leave or stay at FB. TC is 140k vs 160k at FB. 2.5 YOE

Hey guys I have an offer for corporate strategy role from a company backed by one of the largest conglomerate of India. They are offering almost 50% increment with an opportunity to work at CEO office. Although company is stable and many investments are flowing in but financially (individual) net income is negative from quite sometime now. The idea of working in CEO office is tempting but scary due to current scenario. How should I weigh/ assess offer in current scenario.

Interviewed with a senior income tax acct role at Industry. Made it to the final round with CEO. It’s been three weeks. Followed up with HR, HR told me it’s been slow getting corporate feedbacks ( CEO). Followed up with CEO, he told me to check status with recruiter. The client offered me really good job and I took it (lead new area and create a team). I think this will be a great story for the MBA app. The CEO told me he was concerned that I would leave for an MBA and I told him I wouldn't. Now I have ~2 years to put myself in a position where I can tell him I decided that I do want to do an MBA and be able to get a rec. from him. Seems like mission imposible for me. Any tips?

Was just reached out to by a headhunter for a growth role (“directly under the Founder/CEO”) working at a Enterprise / Consumer Tech firm. 2B revenue, founder is worth 10B+.

Interviewed for a senior technical position at a startup (about 50 employees). During the interview the CEO spent about 20 minutes answering my questions. There was no discussion about my technical skills or experience.
They emailed that they are working on an offer. Is the interview process a redflag? The only technical screening that happened was the HR lead's 10 minute phone call.
