5:55 out of LAX. Uber picks me up at 7/Fig at 4:09. No FasTrak. Arrive T4 5:09, wait ~5 in TSA Pre line before realizing I’m out of T5. Helper lady tells me exit and walk to T5 (cont)

This all seems pretty easy with lots of buffer time. Must be a newbie? You got to airport 46 minutes before takeoff — that’s like my max. Under 30 I start to sweat. 20 min ahead is 50/50 depending lines/shuttles

like

I don’t panic unless I get to LAX with less than 5 min to boarding. Y’all betta step it up

like

...you got there before boarding even started. 🙄

like

??? Odds weren’t stacked against you dude. That’s easy mode

likefunny

T4 and T5 are connected post security by tunnel as well

likefunny

I always leave my client 5 mins before boarding... if traffic heavy on 405 I closeline a motorcycle and dump my rental. I split lanes all the way to the exit, ride the bike inside the terminal and park it next to the bomb sniffing dog at TSA. I use the Jedi mind trick to tell them I don’t need to go through security. They reopen the doors for ME at the gate. Flight attendant handles my bags and has my chilled cracked crab claws and some opus one ready for me. SM1... you’re a joke.

likefunny

Do you want a cookie?

like

And clear security immediately. Arrive at my gate at 5:20, 5 minutes prior to boarding. God I love LA 😂🤙

like

I called the Uber way too late and it was a nail biter right till the end. Instead of missing my flight I arrived 5 minutes early

like

Noob! You don’t fly enough if you tend to mix up your terminals.

I loved living DTLA for years, but it’s that long taxi ride from DT to LAX that always got me nervous... and then once you enter LAX, T4/5 is tucked so far back, it’s easily another 20 minutes of anxiety. Since that’s the part that I can’t control, I moved to the west side. Haha

likefunny

I’m usually get dropped off at Logan 15-20 minutes before boarding begins. Plenty of time to get through TSA and walk through gate. Sometimes I’ll even stop to get a coffee or water

like

Not to mention the guy didn’t have a FasTrak so the odds were really stacked against me. I beat them though 👊💥

I never do E1, first time ever. P1 right? So much can go wrong! The 110 and 105 are unpredictable, as is Sepulveda and getting to T4/5 as well. K1 yeah the helper lady told me that, but after hearing I was 10 minutes from boarding she told me to just exit and walk the 5 minutes to T5. Definite good call on her part. Strategy1 I love Chris Rock too! 😂

Lady that told you to exit was wrong.

Just one of those days bro ... usually horrible

I usually do T73 with xpress service cos who doesn’t like to move fast right 😂 I’ve been finding that you need to keep your STA game up because the sec ops folks can be a bit stuck up. But beats coming to LAX from the south!

You mean the 73 toll road D1? Otherwise what’s T73? 🤔

I’m usually still on the fwy when I get my boarding notification. If I’m not running or walking onto my flight and sitting down just before the doors close, I’ve left minutes on the table somewhere else in my life.... 🤔

Should I just quit the legal field?

I have been a paralegal or legal assistant since 2010. I have worked for small and large firms and a TPA. I've worked in L&E, PI, and ID. Billing hours gave me nightmares. Right now I'm in a hybrid paralegal/LA position where I'm responsible for all of the docketing and supporting the managing partner and 1 associate and their 90+ ID caseload. I make a lot of mistakes everywhere I work. I feel so incompetent. Should I just abandon this career path?

I don’t know who needs to hear this (mostly As, Cs, SCs, and some Ms) but here goes.

You are important to the project, but never so important that you cannot leave the project or firm for better opportunities. Being in hero mode is good where you save the day, everyday - but in fact that is neither advisable for your progression nor a recommended practice for the firm. If you have been performing and have had decent social skills, you will not have burnt a bridge when you leave.
