I did and it was absolutely incredible and one of the best decisions I ever made. I took several months off work and enjoyed life. And then found a new job :)
this is precisely what I want to do 🤗
Leave of absence — there should be an option for federal FMLA if you’ve been employed for 1 yr, i think you need to use that first. If <1yr or need longer than FMLA leave, check your state medical leave. Check the employee handbook for employer options & general procedures for requesting leave.
FMLA and state are the most likely to let you keep full salary while out + benefits. Employer/sabbatical will likely be unpaid/small % of pay and out of pocket benefits.
I’ve been where you are, covid/post covid has been brutal for us. You’ve been doing the best job for work and rn you need to do the best job to take care of yourself. You’re so much more than the job and they owe you for your hard work. 🫂
You could ask for a sabbatical to refocus on your health and make plans to quit afterwards. This would allow you to keep insurance so you can find therapist etc. And give you the time to find another job.
Follow your intuition. If you can afford to then do so, because if you don’t feel well you won’t be good to anyone including a job, family, yourself etc. Even if you can’t perhaps consider a temporary medical leave if possible?
I also understand it isn’t always as easy as follow your intuition so I say make a pros and cons list of the ramifications of you quitting your job.
Take some time off, don't quit though that seems rash.
I ended up quitting & it was the best decision.
Thankfully, i found another role quickly after resting my brain a couple of months.
I did have savings & was prepared to use my 401k if necessary. My health & well being was most important to me at the time & i needed to find a new role with clarity vs. running frantically from public accounting. I am blessed to say it all worked out & i have another month before i start.
