Why would you quit in the middle of tax reform? Also, you can do this while working. Don’t take a leave of absence.
Assuming you take 2 months to study, 2-3 months to get results and find a new gig ....It would look like taking an immediate $30 - 40k hit. Thats jus an immediate impact, the opportunity cost is immeasurable.....
If you want to work in tax, it seems pointless. If you like B4 you don't need it and if you go to a law firm you don't need it
Probably ok. You seem bright enough. You could work and knock out the exams.
I just took 4 exams in 6 weeks during busy season as an acting senior. It hurt a lot but it can be done. You don’t have to quit to get the exams done, you just have to give up about half your sleep and all other available time.
Couldn’t you take leave to finish CPA and have some sort of income?
If you’re taking a break to travel or do something fun, go for it. Don’t take time off for a certification that is less valuable than the degree you already have unless you really want to move into financial accounting & reporting.
Haha pwc2 did you pass all 4?
@OP If you're taking CPA to avoid the bar then take the CPA. It's easier to pass I bet. But it's completely doable while working
@Deloitte 2 I passed the bar. I worked my way through law school, and I think I am exhausted by the idea of a work/study schedule. But here goes nothin... literally. I got nothin in the tank.
Why in the world would you take the CPA if you have already passed the bar? There's no value add.
I have several mentors whose resumes would disagree. It shows versatility, and that a client can trust you to understand the numbers and the law. Plus I want my own shop one day and it drives up that hourly rate.
