Yup. Relax and enjoy this magical time with your wife.
Thanks! I do want to have it done by the end of 2020. I may just get the review course and go the slow and steady route and not try to cram it in before the baby comes in April
Would really like to have the CFP behind me by the time baby comes but feel like maybe I’m biting off more than I can chew by trying to test in March. Thoughts?
Don’t kid yourself. The CFP exam is *not* a cakewalk. With a fail rate around 50% it is not even close.
Get yourself a practice exam and see how it goes. Or blow around $1000 to make your first go at it your ‘practice’ test. Either way will likely be humbling - one just costs alot less.
Chances are very high that you would benefit immensely from a refresher/cram course. They are not cheap - but neither is retaking the exam.
I fully intend to do the capstone course and a review course and study for 6 months or so. I’ve spoken with 3 folks who went the challenge route bc they were a CFA or ChFC and both said they passed the exam in about 5-6 months. I think I could get it done before the baby if I didn’t have the tax return deadline and my continuing education deadline but With those two factors in play, I’m afraid it’s too much. Might have to shoot for July or next November...But that’s exactly why I was asking for others opinions
