Colleague of the opposite sex received a 13% total raise and a promotion last year, while my total was 3.5% despite same, some better performance and working more. Not planning on sharing details that I know with anyone.
My supervisor seems to have a favorite, I am used to it as they seem to disrespect me regularly. But any tips on how I might improve my chances for a fairer raise or salary increase would be appreciated prior to completing my eval this year.

You missed mentioning one important factor - was your colleague's and your salary before the raise the same? Many companies pay in pay bands - if you were making more than your colleague and your ratings are overall similar, they might have given your colleague a higher raise to catch them up to the level you were raised to. Just looking at a percentage without looking at the starting point is a fool's errand.

If you really want to increase your favor with your boss, find out what they feel you can do better and address that. It will help next year during your evaluation. Good luck!

I can understand being upset about something like that, but I suspect there could be more behind the numbers than is obvious. If you feel you've been regularly disrespected you should have a conversation with your manager about what is happening. If you want to increase your chance for a raise you'll need to find out what can be addressed and how the dynamic with your manager can be improved.

I'm not sure what you meant to imply by noting the co-worker is of a different gender. Do you think the male employee was given a bigger raise and promotion because he's party of the "boys' club" at the company? Do you think the female employee got a bigger raise and promotion because she flirts with the horny goat supervisor? If you're a woman, you can't change your gender and if you're a man, flirting with the supervisor probably won't achieve the desired results. You asked for advice, so here it is: Do your best, even if you are not praised or rewarded for it. You work "at" the company; you do not work "for" the company. You work "for" you, your family, and the customers who depend on you. Adopt that philosophy and drop the selfish, self-centered, tit-for-tat one. I am having flashbacks to my childhood when my sister would scream, "Mama, his half of the Hershey bar is bigger than my half!!" In a perfect world, that will solve your problem. In the real world, it may not. If you can truthfully say you have done an excellent job and are being disrespected unjustly, either make a decision to address that issue or decide to "quiet quit" and look for another job where you think they will appreciate you.

Wow. That is a dang shame that we are still seeing this in 2024 but I can't say I am surprised. And they will always hide behind some lame excuse rather than admit that it was solely based on sex. I hope I live to see a day where this is not the case.
