PSA: With tax season is around the corner I just wanted to share that CashApp (Square) allows you to e-file individual Federal return and 1 state return for free (with NO income limit), and the best part is it supports ALL essential forms for stocks like 1099s and Sch D (gain loss on stock including crypto). DM if you need a ref code

Its not. It needs to be at least a 50% increase in my opinion. If you are happy and needs are met then stay where you are at.
Know your priorities. Always understand that human mind is never fully satisfied. If you go public accounting, you’ll soon feel that you compromised your WLB and potentially your mental and physical health.
If your needs are well met and you value WLB, I think you should stay at where you are. Look for the fun things on other stuff: your hubbies, family time, community service, charity, local chapters etc. etc.
Wild, right? 36 hour (4 day) work weeks May 1 - November 30th, then busy season is busier than the top 10 firm I was at. I really don’t have any stress other than clients being idiots though since the client mix is so easy.
Seriously if i were you, i won’t take that an offer. It is high demanding job. There will be more work, high pressure, no wlb for sure.
Grass isn’t greener
I feel like if WLB is a priority for you, starting on a structured work arrangement at CLA would be a good option. I have so many clients and client work, that I feel like if I went on a SWA it just wouldn’t make sense because my work still needs to get done, and I would be stuck trying to get it done still. I know many people on SWA’s that have a great WLB and still have challenging and very fulfilling work.
If you start on a SWA right away you probably would never be overwhelmed or have the struggle later on to get on a SWA.
30k bump is pretty good, especially considering you can likely leave again after a year or two for a higher paying private job
Are you not content? Is there something not working for you overall? Are you miserable? If the answer is yes to any then change something; If the answer is no then don’t do anything.
$130k where I live is around $185k in Chicago $$ so great money in my opinion.
tbh i find start ups to be a good balance. plus there are some remote friendly opps
you can build a bunch of automations when you feel productive. when you are overwhelmed, you can slow down and let your system run.
Pick up a part time gig or fractional CFO position. The money is not worth the WLB
Is the WLB poor at RSM?
