I’m not exactly in your shoes, but I have some commonalities with you. From a title standpoint, I am considered junior to (and am paid less than) certain people in HR, whom I support. The only solution here is to have your GC talk to the head of HR and convince the head of HR that titles notwithstanding, you need to be an equal participant. It stinks when Legal is subservient to HR, but unfortunately some companies function that way. Without a strong GC to advocate for Legal, it is a losing/uphill battle.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to this. I’m gonna try keep building trust with me GC to get to a point where I feel comfortable asking him to do this
