I know a lot of people from tax that go to normal industry accounting/finance jobs. They just care if you’re coachable. I know someone who went from a big 4 tax manager to financial reporting in industry

This is me as well. Wtf do we go from here?
Take an accounting manager role. Then after a year or two -> jump to something else. You’ll need that foundation. Either that or you’ll have to drop down to senior. I say take whatever accounting manager role you find worthwhile.

I’d think about what specifically is it about tax that is frustrating. If it’s the repetitive nature of the work, then even an accounting position may bore you over time.
What about Finance. Does tax experience translate to a Financal Analyst role?
Get in the door at a big company (think Walmart) in tax, and then pivot to something in FP&A or investor relations or whatever you want to do. I work at such a company and many people leave tax for other areas of the business, at all levels. Easier to get hired in to tax and learn the business before jumping to another area though.
