Seems like the hot flashes just started getting really frequent and I haven’t slept well for weeks. Does anyone know how long this typically lasts, and do I really need to go to a doc for meds? I just finished cancer treatments a few months ago and completely over going to the doc. I’d much prefer to try supplements first. Right now it’s black cohosh, I’ll up the dose a bit see if that works

My sister-in-law swears by acupuncture. She’s been going about every four weeks, but she’s shifting to three because the fourth week hot flashes are starting to come back. I’m too young to be off HRT so I haven’t tried it myself yet.

Thanks- acupuncture helped me for some cancer side effects and previously back pain. I’ll try it!

I’d love to know a time frame too as I’ve been suffering since 2017. I personally take estradiol. I tried OTC but had to go back on my prescription.

I have had hot flashes on and off for the past ten years. Stress makes them worse. Swimming helps me as well as good diet and getting enough sleep. I have one period in the past year and a half.

So today was my first day on a stimulant (diagnosed as an adult), and everyone says its suppose to feel like *boom* magic, or normal (?) , I guess. Knowing that is figurative, what should I actually be expecting? I feel mostly the same, I think, though I came in and actually did started my work today. But I mean, somedays I do that...I just don't want to psyche myself out if I'm expecting too much. Or pscyhe myself in if I actually might not be experiencing what I should.

Hi Folks,

Could you please suggest a good health insurance plan for my parents (Dad-59, Mum-54)? I've heard Max Bupa is very popular but I compared its benefits with ICICI Lombard and the latter seems to be better.

Any insights would help. Thank you! :)

NFW- I just had a good laugh. Earlier today I was on a video conference call reviewing a Private Label Agreement template with a larger company who wishes to brand label products we develop and manufacture. We came to a very one-sided provision and my sales VP stated “for this one, how can we just say ‘hell no’ ...nicely?” The other person on the call said we can replace the wording with just NFW (no f@$* way) and I said “I will have to add that to the defined terms section so it’s clear”

Hello Everyone!!
Happy Friday!
I wanted to let you know we are having a beginner meditation session next Tuesday Feb 9th from 8:30 - 9 PM EST.

I’m 46, entering perimenopause and know very few women who’ve reached this stage via age rather than as the result of surgery. What are the symptoms you’ve experienced? My male GP seems pretty clueless. For me: shorter and heavier cycles, plus worsening cramps.

I figure if anyone can understand this, it’s you all. I feel like I’m losing my damn mind. I have always loved communications, and I’m really good at it. But lately I’m so tired of politics and toxicity that I it’s sent me into a depression tailspin, on top of a pretty severe mid-life crisis. Two and a half weeks ago, I quit my job with nothing lined up. Not the smartest thing I’ve ever done, but I kind of feel like self-preservation was at work here. I want to do work that makes a difference. ☹️

I finally broke down and went back on HRT last week. I have been taking gabapentin for a nerve injury which I’ve learned helps hot flashes. I can’t tell a significant difference yet aside from maybe getting a little better sleep. I saw a new doctor (male) to get my prescription refilled and he seems to have a different philosophy than my last doctor (female). He wants me to be on HRT until 51, but after that he doesn’t recommend it. I hope by that age I’ll be off the gabapentin…

I’m curious how long people were in the peri menopause phase? I’ve read it’s an average of 4 years but I’m curious what people’s experiences are. I believe I am late stage peri menopausal and my periods have been very irregular for the past 9 months ranging 13-60 days between periods. If anyone has any studies you could point me to, I’d love to see those as well! I’m 40 and my mom entered menopause at 41.

Question about health insurance. Since some of us are at the age of more preventives, such as colonoscopies and mammograms, are PPO plans the best option? Does anyone have an HSA? Do you recommend it? Yes or no? Thanks!!

Thank you for starting this bowl! I just turned 50. I had my one and only child at 41 and went straight into menopause. My symptoms were perhaps confused with postbpatrum and nursing hormone symptoms but bow my hair is dry and frizzy yet somehow also oily and my skin lacks luster and I gain weight so easily. Working from home for eight months has definitely hanged my body shape and not for the better!
