Should I be ashamed for not having moved out yet at 25 years old?

likefunnyhelpful

AD3, where were your parents though? I couldn’t move back because it’s all small market agencies

I’m 30 and moving back home. While it’s a separate house — grandparents old house — I’m on the same property with my family. It’s easier, cheaper, and smarter than signing onto a lease or buying a home for me at this point. Plus it will give you greater flexibility should something drastic change in your professional or personal life. If you can work remotely, hedge your bets and...

IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE, READ THIS:

Try to enjoy your time with your parents. They will be gone before you know it. So do some of your favorite shared activities together, don’t sweat when they treat you like their child — you are, and smile. Your time spent there can be a huge blessing — if you let it.

31 with kids and a wife here. Moved in with my parents this month.

We rented out our house but as Corona flared up again the last month or so we decided not to proceed with our next hosting option until things settle. We also didn't want to reneg on our tenants.

So, we're going to enjoy the Grandma/ Grandpa time and I'll try not to get too annoyed by the little things. Also, my wife is a saint.

I'd do it if I could and I'm 37. 🤷‍♀️

No. And dont let these elitists tell you otherwise. Yeah it sucks to move back home, but if your finances necesitate it, it would be a dumb move to burn cash just to not move back home.

Treat it as a temporary recharge while you get ready to move back out again. Times are tough. Good luck!

I moved in with my parents in 09 after the birth of my daughter and being laid off due of the housing crash. I was 27. It Allowed my wife and I to manage a very tough stretch in our life with significantly less financial impact than it could have had. I now have an employee living with her mom and aunt to save money to pay off student loans.

Senior-67 single female, living alone apartment in LA, lost job in the entertainment industry with no work on the horizon. Parents have passed away and all siblings live out of state.
Everyday I’m working on an online business model that hopefully will happily and financially take me well into my late 70’s.
Starting over takes courage, friendships, family, and to reach out- ego aside.
This IS a test of Faith, the power of prayer and resiliency, knowing and trusting the Holy Spirit. Do everything for the glory of God. 🙏
All heartfelt and easy to say... but it’s truly a greater challenge at this age.

To the Younger generation- your having a life lesson right now that’s character building. Be thankful because you can’t earn this life lesson in college or at work.
Peace out... xoxo

Why would you be ashamed?

No

You are an adult. Go figure it out. If you do move back and only with approval from your parent(s) then you should work out a written agreement about how much to pay, responsibilities, Etc. This is a business decision and should be respectful of their place, time and any burden they may feel.

Yes.

Yes. Grow a pair and take care of yourself. “Cause” you’re 25 YEARS OLD!

You know that senior in his/her title does mean over 65 right?

I moved out at 16 (went to boarding school) and been out since with exception of school breaks in college and I wouldn’t move back in, mainly for my mental health/personal freedom/independence. I totally respect the saving money part but I’ve found my relationship with my parents improved once I moved out. There’s something valuable about living on your own and becoming your own adult, and I find that value to be worth the money I spend in expenses

I agree with this but the fact you went to boarding school already tells us the trust is loaded

If my mom hadn't passed I'd still be at home.

You can save money living alone. You should be embarrassed to say you’re staying with mommy and daddy. There is nothing to be proud of. Just get your stuff together.

I want to retire but I'm in my early 40's. My husband thinks I'm selfish because most of our luxury spending money comes from me. I'm burnt-out in this business and don't want to work anymore. I don't mind not going on luxurious vacations anymore and cutting back on our expenses. I keep seeing my loved ones die at fairly young ages. I want to enjoy what is left of my life. I'm perfectly fine with scalling back. What do you think? Am I being selfish for wanting to be a housewife?

What does respecting your partner’s wishes mean? Does it mean I have to comply with whatever they want?

Went to a concert with my gf and it started at 8 and I suggested going at 9 because they always have an opening show. We argued and she said I have to respect her & it left me offended bc I do respect her

This morning, my apt was having a free coffee event and she wanted to stop by before leaving for work & there was a short wait that made her late and blamed it on me for not waking up contd
