Currently a Solutions Consultant at Pegasystems.
I am interviewing at and considering making a jump to Oracle as a Specialist Solutions Consultant.
The reason for my move is currently at Pega SCs are treated more as AEs or Account Managers. The role at Oracle would be more of a true SC position. I also feel that Oracle will look BETTER on a resume and someone as young as me would have BETTER programs in place to train me and give me the foundation needed to be a successful SC.
Thoughts?

I would just explain to them that they need to trust that you have everything under control and that you will contact them when they need to be in on a call or when you are ready to show them the progress. Let them know you appreciate that they want to be part of the process, but that it is in everyone's best interest if you keep them updated when necessary.
Oh man, that is so hard. I have definitely had that client before. It is a partial strategy for me between having the best communication I can with them (more than the typical client), but also putting up some good boundaries. It's so hard, though.

Ideally, there should be a communication plan in one of the project artifacts that you could reference to the client.
But really I think the most important thing is outlining to the entire project team when you will provide updates to the client. I.e a weekly status call + weekly email update. This way the client doesn’t freak out if they don’t get a reply before the weekly update time.
I would also try to figure out why they want to be so involved. What are they worried will happen if the communication is more structured. Did something happen before where a deadline is missed? Do they feel like they haven’t communicated their requirements well enough? Do they feel like there’s a time crunch coming up that will put the project at risk?
I find clients like this usually have a very specific one or two concerns that make them act like this, and if you figure out what those are and address them, they usually calm down a lot.
