What's the worst that can happen if I consistently say no to covering shifts?

I'm talked to as if I have no choice. I've been covering shifts with same day notice for four years and no significant raise to show for it. I'm getting sick of it.

What do y'all think. I don't want to make excuses, just flat out say no, regardless of my plans of health status that day.

Am I the only one that feels like we should have our student loans forgiven? (And I used to be adamantly opposed to ANY student loan forgiveness)
Our salaries continue to DECREASE as cost of living increases (not just “no raises”…decrease!…I realize I’m preaching to the choir haha). I can barely (and by “barely” I mean “can’t” TBH) make bills, pay for kids activities, etc (also a single mom of 3, for more context) LET ALONE pay my loans…
