There’s a position I want to apply for that requests one more year of experience than I have. I’m considering still applying for the position, because, why not? I have a friend who is a junior associate at the firm and am wondering if I should submit through the friend, or if it would be better to submit directly. I don’t want to put the friend in a position of recommending someone the firm may feel is not qualified. Any thoughts? TIA

Hi all! I just got a Senior tax associate role in industry ($85k, MCOL; 17% more than I currently make). Enjoyed the people I interviewed with; my only hesitation is that the company itself has had a rough couple of years (healthcare company, had a few bad acquisitions that they’ve since shed off). Their busy season is just January and early February, with their team working until about 7 PM during the week and a few Saturdays. I’m interested, but it’s also my 1st offer; what would you do?

I am an expert path associate at McKinsey with 1.5 YOE + 6 YOE prior to McK. Expected 2022 TC = 200k base + 50-70k bonus. How should I position myself for (Sr) Director level jobs given my current tenure? I want to test the job market right now, but it seems like recruiters are reaching out for Sr Manager jobs with significantly less TC than what I’m making. Any tips on specific themes or types of experiences I should highlight for those positions would be greatly appreciated!

-EY India: Consultant role in Business Consulting (x Fixed , 1L joining bonus, variable as per performance)
-PWC India: Associate role in Advisory/Management consulting- Operations ( x+50k fixed, 2L joining bonus, variable as per performance)
Primary criterion for me is learning, growth prospects, culture and secondary monetary.

Thoughts? Which is more competitive for HSW MBA: Stay on 1 year and get promoted to manager at MBB (3 YOE at promotion) or exit as an associate to a top PE fund but forgo the manager promotion? Hoping to differentiate my app and could always try and exit after promo but aiming to apply in 2023 and would have very limited time in the new role

@slalom, i have applied and interviewed for an associate consultant role and have passed both the technical and behavioral interview. I have an interview with a director on wednesday. looking for insight on if this is typically an interview or a meeting for an offer.

Family law associate. I run a docket of about 40-50 cases and work about 50 hours a week. I currently make about 125K (self-employed, no benefits). Between jury trials for CPS termination cases and the highly adversarial nature of family law, I find this job to be incredibly draining, as I have horrid work/life balance and struggle with constant anxiety.

I recently got an offer with a personal injury firm. 110K, full benefits, for a non-litigation/docket manager role. Thoughts?

Hi guys. So I’m currently an AM in Audit (Private Equity) with KPMG. Got an audit Mgr role with BDO and also interviewing with a top PE firm for a Valuations Associate role. I strongly think I’ll get an offer but I need to accept/reject my BDO offer asap as I’ve stalled for too long just to buy time for the PE recruitment process to be finalised.
Need to decide if I should reject the BDO offer and risk waiting on the PE offer to sail through or being jobless if I don’t get the PE role. Thoughts?

How successfully do buyout Associates recruit into the startup scene?

Im a pre-MBA associate at BCG with diligence experience and a strong interest in PE. However, knowing myself, I think I will eventually want to end up in an early stage operating role.

Ideally, I would love go through a buyout shop’s Associate program to round out my skillset, but sometimes I wonder if a.) those skills will even translate to a startup and b.) I should consider a more direct path.
