Currently interviewing at google for the Account Strategist position, anyone have any advice or tips to make it through the interview round? What is the comp like and how long does the process take?

Need advice 😓 I spent the past couple of years in a creative strategist / copywriter hybrid role. It’s been super interesting but I’ve heard that the “hybrid creative” is kinda played out. How would you navigate searching for your next role?

Question from an upcoming graduate:
I am on track to graduate this spring and just now searching for my first opportunity in the field of advertising (specifically a role in strategy. My question is, should I be looking for internships or associate/junior work options following graduation? Without any prior experience in the way of an internship or job in the “industry,” I am unsure if I could really even offer much as associate strategist. Any input would be beyond appreciated!

I live in Sydney, Australia and am looking to move over to NYC in the coming months and get a job as a Strategist (I have ~4 years experience, my Fishbowl profile is out of date).

At the moment, are people are getting hired remotely/over Zoom calls etc? And to be clear, I don't mean working remotely, just the hiring process.

Normally I'm told its pretty much impossible to get hired if not in NY (And still in Aus.), but I'm thinking now could be my chance. I would need to be sponsored though.

Has anyone landed a monetization strategist offer/ similar role at TikTok? Could you share your final round interview experience (with a stakeholder in China)? Thanks in advance!

Interviewed for a senior strategist role and as we were griping about how clients can be, I said “oh yeah well the dream job is to never work with clients again right?!” And the recruiter just got back to me that “the role requires client interaction so that’s a dealbreaker”. I feel so dumb for getting comfortable during an interview to joke like that.

Any advice on those of us trying to push into a strategy director role? Currently a senior strategist with plenty of experience, but every time I try and step into a director role (on smaller accounts/when the director level is short staffed) my anxiety hits 100 and impacts my performance. What are the differences and similarities of copywriting at an ad agency vs. a branding agency?
The reason I ask: I feel unfulfilled in my current role as a direct-response copywriter at a tech company and am thinking through next steps. I crave coming up with creative ideas and concepting with a close-knit team. I also appreciate brand strategy (I started as a junior strategist at an agency before realizing I belong on the other side of the brief).

I'm up for a promotion to Senior Strategist, is it reasonable to ask for a bump from 65k to 105k? Was supposed to get a raise last year but covid salary freezes happened. Glassdoor & real agency salaries show low 100k as avg for the role, but never heard of anyone getting anywhere near a 62% bump without jumping shop... NYC, 5 yrs exp (3 agency, 2 media)
