MBB vs Big 4 Discussions

What does a partner at a consulting firm make for a salary TC? When looking into it I often see massive ranges like I think I saw one article that said MBB/Big 4 partners can make anywhere from 500k to 5m, that's an insane difference.

Fish who exited big 4 at the manager level to manager equivalent at MBB. What was your experience? No change? Big change? Have an offer from BCG and curious to hear other stories. Thanks!

What's your take on backend consulting increasing in India. These days it seems most companies (MBB, Big 4) say they are recruiting consultants but the role ends up being supporting US or other offshore teams. EY Parthenon(EY GDS) BCN, PWC are examples. I am pretty sure there are others as well.

Consulting firms leading in cyber security /cyber audit etc? Outside of the traditional big firms (big 4/MBB etc) looking to find niche players

I’m from an African country that has no MBB or Big 4 consulting presence. Went to a target school in ZA, but like many other African countries they weren’t open to internationals.

I’ve got 1.5 years experience (1 promo) and my contract is running out, so figured I’d try for an entry level consulting role. Hoping to go for an MBA after 2 years so not picky on location, MBB, B4, T2. Fluent in EN and PT.

Currently at 4 YOE (3.5 YOE industry, 0.5 YOE boutique consulting firm). Need advice on what’s the best strategy to move into MBB (specifically BB). I’m guessing a referral wouldn’t be enough. Should I continue to gain more consulting experience at my current firm, move to Big 4 before MBB, or pursue a top MBA program? TIA

Planning to exit FDD in big 4, what are the potential options at MBB?

Hi guys, I got a feeling that big 4 or T2 companies kinda quiet in jakarta as opposed to MBB where they conduct lots of recruiting events (management consulting). Any reason for that particularly or maybe big 4 prefer internal hiring only?

Currently making 160k in the government practice of a Big 4 with minimal stress and less than 20hrs of real work a week. Have the education and pedigree to likely make the jump to MBB or T2, but is is really worth it given the massive hit to my lifestyle and the stress of potentially being fired in rough times? Did those of you who made the jump find it worthwhile?

is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?

What would be good consulting companies (e.g., Big 4) I could join after MBB? Which companies would be interest in hiring ex-MBBs where you could get comparable benefits, a similar trajectory, and a higher position from the start?

Getting this off my chest… few folks in my leadership randomly talk about how they had MBB offers out of business school but they picked big 4 strategy. 😑 Like don’t they think about how this almost sounds incredible to believe.. It sounds like they need to name drop. That’s my rant.

Is the work you’d do at MBB significantly different from big 4 strategy? Debating IB vs MBB, leaning towards IB because it seems like a different skill set.

Moving Tier 2->MBB, seems no brainer to me, but would that hurt my MBA admission chances at top schools? ie from being good in tier 2/big four consulting pool to being nobody in MBB applicant pool.

If i want to move from Big4 to MBB or any tech company like Amazon, will they check my performance reviews from the Big 4 company I work at when they hire me?

Random thought but I was comparing how bougie partners at Big four or MBB firms are vs. Specialized Doctors snd Dentists, cause I know a lot of them from family and friends. I always felt that partners who are leading offerings and tenured don’t show off as much as MDs do. I don’t see them wearing fancy watches and driving extravagant cars as much, but I noticed Doctors and specialized dentists like Ortho, Perio etc show off a lot more when they get together.

I just finished undergrad freshman year at Emory University with a 3.36 GPA. It was primarily my first semester that brought me down(Got a 3.1 first semester and 3.7 second semester). I'm really scared that I have down my prospects because of the first semester. I feel like I have no shot at things anymore. Initially I wanted MBB(MBB recruiting picked up a massive amount at Emory undergrad this year) but I know there's no chance. What should I do to have some shot at Big 4 consulting

How soon is it to ask for a raise? Just joined a small boutique consultancy doing M&A work in London two months ago after finishing an advanced degree. Recruiters have already reached out saying MBB and Big 4 are hiring and interested in my profile. I like my current company but with the way inflation is going, money matters more + interested in better growth opportunities in a larger firm. Is there scope to negotiate a salary rise so early into a job or should I bail for bigger?

Big 4 Consulting v.s. MBB?
I am currently in a big 4. I received an offer from MBB (and have already accepted it) but just got notified I have been promoted in my current firm which I didn’t expect (one year from C -> SC), and the new base salary is even higher than my MBB offer...

Associate Consultant here with 2 years of experience (industry & consulting), undergrad in Engineering, no masters degree (yet). Currently at a Tier 2 firm that do not sponsor H-1B visas for internationals, despite the good work I’m doing for the firm I need to find another employer. I’m aware that MBB sponsors H-1B at all levels, but big 4 do not sponsor entry-level positions. Do you know any other consulting firms that offer sponsorship? Also, do you consider having a master degree is a must?
