Anybody else plan on taking a vacation or staycation during Election Day to get away from the negative energy, and keep your mental state better?

Actually thinking about taking the day after Election Day off. Stayed up late last time watching results come in and was a wreck the whole next day.

Are you voting by mail? I love the staycation idea!

Not voting. Too toxic and I personally feel Botha sides are trying to cheat their way to the White House.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree.

Just got notified by the client that a bunch of people are going to be on vacation over the next few weeks. Completely understandable, but from a billing perspective that kind of sucks. In a pre-covid world you were at the client site and could always bill your time no matter who took vacation, but in this WFH environment there is no more billable “downtime.” Thoughts?

Anyone have any female solo trip recommendations? I have a short time off before starting something new and would like to take advantage of it, but finding all my ideas completely booked out during this busy season. I’ve done solo places like Hawaii, Sedona, Seattle, LA, DC, New York, Boston. Looking for more Hawaii or Sedona style Any suggestions ?

Virtual Juneteenth celebration anyone? This is one year especially that I don't want Juneteenth to just go by without me actually celebrating or acknowledging it. Shamefully I have not done so as much in the past. Anyone up for a virtual celebration and/or know of any? I know Deloitte is not giving us the day off… I am thinking of taking it as PTO anyway.

Hi! For people who have started with EY US recently, how long did it take you from signing the offer, completing background check, to transferring H1B visa? I'm supposed to start in mid-Jan and trying to gauge the timeline so I can put in notice with my current company and plan other stuff. Given that holiday is coming and EY immigration seems pretty slow. TIA!

I think I’m falling for my mother in law. The feelings aren’t necessarily sexual in nature. They seem to be much deeper and emotional feelings—which I get would concern my wife more so than sexual feelings. It doesn’t help that everyone thinks my MIL finds me to be her “favorite” in addition to some other complicating nuances. Obviously, I won’t act on these feelings, but as the years go by, the closer we’re going to get since she’s around a lot and we talk quite often when we’re alone.

Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one

Having interview fatigue. I quickly run out of Qs because these firms aren’t giving very different answers or I’m asking Qs I know the answer to. As background, I litigated for 5 years for a few firms (couple biglaw) before clerking, so I’m familiar with the interviewing firms from experience and word of mouth. It’s tough to keep asking the same stuff when I’m interviewing with so many partners at each firm. Recs for good Qs for a mid/senior lit associate with regional/biglaw firms?
