Good lord. I've been here ten years. Take the vacation and be all in when you're actually there. PwC did not have massive layoffs this year - we hit, as a firm, our targets. Which tells you resourcing plan and revenue plan were aligned. Did they push out some lower performers and some people in particular areas that were overweight? Of course, like every firm every year. Yes, there is an increased focus on metrics and profitability coming from the top - but you should still take vacation.
I've taken my vacation, and gotten 1s and 2s (along with raises, bonuses and promotions),
I've not taken my vacation, and ended up with 3s (even though I had above 100% utilization).
I know people that have made it to Director in 8 years, and they have taken their vacations year after year.
If you're in a situation where your utilization would materially impact your rating tier, that is a problem that not taking your vacation is not going to solve.
If you're relying solely on your utilization alone to carry you through a CRT, you don't know how the game is played.
Someone that meets their minimum utilization target and is doing all of the other things that the firm asks you to do is more likely to get a 1 than someone that crushes their utilization target, but only does that.
You clearly don't understand the calculation and the placemat are irrelevant to my point.
OR if I think I'll be engaged 2080, take PTO during that, and get rolled off earlier with no follow on, I just shot myself in the hypothetical face
Yep
Take your holiday, the job isn't worth misery.
@p5 - keep not taking vacation?
No
No. Just manage your time accordingly
Ayo what life you living to be afraid to enjoy your life because of work???? You better GO.
No utilization KPI @ MBB?
Utilization is not a thing at least here at Bain, M2

A4, so I take it they don't have ethics training at Accenture? That is not good advice.
PwC builds vacation time, holidays, etc into utilization targets so "100%" utilized is not 2,080 hours a year, or even 2,000 hours a year. Taking allocated vacation is not going to put you at risk of missing the target. Taking MORE vacation than you are allocated per year is a different story.
PWC6 - we still have a few people remaining from the Arthur Anderson days (A4 cough cough A4)
NO
PwC14 - you're incorrect.
PwC 14, you clearly don't understand what I (and a couple of others) laid out above about your allocated vacation (and holidays) each year being factored into utilization calculations.
If you don't take vacation, you'll be a detriment to your project eventually
If you really care that much just get on a billable initiative
Many of you are wrong. If you take vacation instead of billing the client that DOES count against you. The only days the firm doesn't count for billable time is holidays (15 a year) I believe.
13 a year.
