First day at Deloitte (US) is on 1/17. From what I've heard, it's a company holiday on MLK day. Am i expected to log on that day or the following Tuesday?

This. It’s actually the last round of interview.

Log in on the following day. Company holiday too on Monday

like

It’s a holiday, ask your recruiter on the 3rd. Your start day is kind of your start week really, it’s unlikely anyone would be available to onboard you anyways

like

email HR on 3rd and ask…

likesmart

You’ll be contacted by an onboarding advisor in the next couple of weeks and they will be the right person to answer this - but id be pretty confident you’ll start the day after the holiday, since the firm shuts down on that Monday.

I also started on a MLK day holiday. On paper. Work started the day after. MLK day is a Deloitte holiday. You can go into staffit and enter a holiday that day if you want to do something. Other than that nothing.

It's a test mate.

How are you all feeling about going into the holiday season while being remote? Missing the company holiday parties, or happy to be able to do your own thing?

I work in a sucky IBM cic, making $54k. It’s a full time job with regular benefits and vacation etc, it’s working with government clients. The job isn’t what I applied for & constantly changes. I don’t like that, but I’m a full time employee which is “stable employment”. Btw, I’m in the DC area.

I just got hired for a government contract through Accenture for a Business Analyst role. Pay is $65 per hour. 3 year contract. Benefits too. No PTO. Holidays off with pay, after 90 days.

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

Anyone have any advice or insight on interviewing for a GS General Attorney position? I’m really excited and working to prepare for an interview I’ve been offered. It’s 3 part, on one day. 2 one on one interviews and a panel interview. For reference, it’s a position in an agency that’s involved in both trade and national security. I’m a litigation junior associate in private practice now, but have a long academic background in international trade, policy, and security.

How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.

Or is it affected by the Trump executive order that was passed in Jun that said non-immigrant workers can't enter the country till Dec 31? Just wondering if I leave for holidays, will I not be allowed back. Any sort of clarification you might have is helpful. FYI - I was in US before that June ruling came out. Thx

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
