How do you let go of the need to be liked by subordinates? I have a people pleasing streak.

Female here and I hate to say it! But whenever I’m pull to a new project I secretly hope I don’t get a female lead. 😞 I had some interesting experiences with women leads, which it does not apply to all women!, but I feel a bit hesitant and I feel is ptsd lol how can I overcome this mentality?! I’m pro women and equally etc etc but I often rather deal with a dude lead Bc we women are so hard on each other. Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️

My manager nominated me for judging a small programme happing virtually with two other head of the Department, but when I joined the programme someone from office outside was included for that with director and those two HODs were also not there... My key learning thus far in my career: Noone gives a shit about your ideas unless you're a head honcho. Real change is brought about from a position of authority.

I set up a call today with an even more senior leader (I am an EVP) and asked him for advice on navigating the political waters of our global workplace. He was so honest and helpful it was .....amazing. I don't think I expected it to be so genuinely helpful. I highly suggest you reach above for advice if needed. Sometimes it works!
