I am a male in my late 40s. Growing up, and to this day, I have zero interest in sports, esp sports that involve rules (so basically major of the sports :). And the same goes for participating in sports. I never had an interest in any team sports. Where I did well mostly is running, working out and martial arts. I wonder if this is in any way related to my inability to focus .

As an alternate data point, I love team sports. But I was always very interested in the rules (still a fault of mine focusing a lot on the rules). I could see the ADHD brain swerving from lots of rules, though, if the interest isn’t there.

Sounds like a question for chatgpt. “Is there any correlation between ADHD and participating in organized sports?”

Similar experience on my end - only enjoy swimming, biking, and martial arts

Your lack of interest in team sports and preference for individual activities like running, working out, and martial arts is a personal preference and may not necessarily be related to your ability to focus. It's important to remember that focus and interests can vary among individuals, and there is no one-size-fits-all explanation. I would see if there is an exam you could take to check? There may be no correlation however.

What do you guys think about apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace? I understand they might have real therapists working on their content, but a lot of the marketing I see is so vague and broad that it feels like a lie. Seems like "This app got rid of my anxiety with a 30-minute automated text questionnaire" is the new "This tea made me lose 20 pounds in two weeks!" Just seems a little fad-like and money grabby to me. Thoughts?

I didn't apply for a job that would have set me up for the future in the government. I wouldn't have to worry about money or future jobs. My boss had just given me a small pay rise and talked up the future and so I felt good. I now severely regret not applying for the job and cannot stop thinking about it to the point of insomnia and depression. I even contacted the employer but too late. It's a small town and rarely anything comes up. I hate myself and feel like I failed my family. :(

Going through a rough patch, mental-health wise. I have always been a high performer and dont back down from challenges. But this past month something feels off in my head and I have 0% motivation for anything at the moment. Brief run down: work-stress, meeting expectations, fear of failure, imposter-syndrome, negative self-image (probably from all the time I spend on IG… might need therapy. 🥲
I don’t know what went wrong, but I don’t think I’m the only one to have felt this. Sorry for the sads!

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Also, having been on the receiving end of criticism, over time I have developed a perfectionist streak. I won't turn it in if it is good enough. How do you break out of this habit?

Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

Anyone else have a need to exercise daily? A lot of people judge me in a negative way and in reality it is because my ADHD brain needs it. 1) the consistency for schedule 2) exercise can help tone down the symptoms before I sit down for the work day 3) it is the only thing I can control to make it look like I am not a mess (disorganization, interrupting) - basically trying to stay in the game at work based on perception of “having it together”. Just wondering if anyone faces the challenges.
