Hello! I’m new here and looking for positions in talent management specifically as a Talent Business Partner or HR Business Partner. Open to relocating but more interested in remote positions or local in Washington DC or Northern Virginia. I have a master’s degree in I/O psychology, SHRM-CP and 7+ years of talent management experience. If anyone is hiring, please let me know!

Is getting certified in HR worth it? Does it help with getting jobs and keeping them? Does it really help you in your day-to-day work?

For those of you who have gotten your SHRM, what helped you study/prepare the most? How did you decide on the CP versus SCP? I'm currently about to hit three years of experience and have a masters in I/O but my highest position has been a Coordinator II role. However, my goals are to eventually be in a management role, should I do the SCP?

I’m looking to formally pivot to HR. My experience has been a jack of all trades, operations, some HR, some finance, etc. I’m currently a Director of a federal agency that I’ve been with for 7 years. I’m looking to transition back into the private sector. Would a SHRM-SCP help with the transition and will the certification make a difference?

What’s a better choice to transition from recruiting to Human Resources? A masters degree or SHRM certification? I have a bachelors degree in Labor and Employment Relations, which was parallel with a HR degree.

SHRM vs HRCI? I haven’t heard as much on HRCI HR Management certification. Do people ever get both? Does help to even have the certification from HRCI?

Recently obtained my aPHR and I’m considering next steps in advancing my career. I am eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP presently and will not be able to sit for a PHR until 09/2023. Any pros/cons with either certification? Should I wait to sit for PHR or go for SHRM-CP now?

Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

I’ve been searching for an HR Manager or Senior Generalist Position for months. I check all the boxes on experience and SHRM cert but no degree. I can’t get past the ATS. If I do get contacted the degree is the deal breaker. Any company referrals or recommendations? In San Antonio are a or remote would be most ideal.

Best HR certification for junior level employee (Coordinator, ~3 years experience)? PHR or SHRM-CP and why?

I am a career changer on mo 4 of a 6 mo sourcer/researcher contract that I’m not sure will be renewed due to team re-organizing. I have 5 YOE basically in an HR generalist role at a company that didn’t have an official HR function, building systems from the ground up. I also have my SHRM-CP. I am looking for a perm, remote HR generalist or program manager position and getting no traction despite a well-reviewed resume. What do I do? Should I go to grad school?

Just passed my SHRM-CP. I paid for this myself and, TBH, the company I’m with seems a bit “on the rocks”. Looking for a remote position (who isn’t?). My question is this - should I tell my current employer that I took the SHRM exam and passed or let it ride? My direct manager is a major micromanager who is saving herself and her “special friend” from an impending disaster, she lies and is unethical. (I don’t want her taking credit for me getting my cert - her new role is corp trainer)

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

Hello everyone! My co-worker and I are preparing for the SHRM certification exam and Hoping to take it in December. I’m looking to purchase the SHRM learning system books from someone that has already taken the exam this year. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I am currently obtaining my masters of science in Human Resources at USC, hv a PHR -SHRM certificate in Human Resources and a bachelors in communication with minor in business. I have about one year work experience… is applying for Human Resources management out of the question? In southern Cali.

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Why is it so hard to find a remote HR position? I have my SHRM-SCP, my MBA and over 10 years of experience being an HR Manager.

Per SHRM, I was just curious if any HR Professionals completely removed the following fields: social security number, recommend salary, graduation dates, military discharge info, race, maiden name like (Ms. Mrs. Ms), & criminal history questions. I was just curious what other Employers/HR Professional have done. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
