Anyone want to send my book over to JL? Referral bonus anyone?!

I’m six years in. A job I used to love is now burning me out and affecting my ability to be who I need to be in my personal life. I’ve tried to “give less” at work, and I’m just not good at that. I always give what’s needed, and too much is needed out of my role. It’s a known issue, and repeated attempts to fix our broken system have failed — but I’m afraid to walk away from a job (and people) that genuinely have given me so much. Can anyone relate? Offer advice?

Partner agency did a video for social. They used parts of what we did for another chunk of the campaign… they used key visuals and the campaign’s slogan that I wrote. Do I have rights on that vid for my portfolio if I accurately describe my role, or nah? Is it trying to hard to get cred for something that isnt really mine?

Four months in a new gig and I hate it: my boss doesn't understand what a CD does and why the role is important, wants me to be a full time project manger and designer on top of my existing role, frequently says my team is lazy and not committed to their jobs because they push back on an unrealistic workload despite already working 10+ hour days, micromanages like crazy and more.

I was reached out to for a short term jr role and I’m curious how this could affect my career trajectory. I’ve already gone from a PM to a producer and learned titles are so interchangeable from agency to agency.

Is there suddenly some kinda "We'll show you who's boss!" agency collusion going on right now with freelancers? Just had a big agency say they got "word from above" that freelance hiring is 100% frozen til their Q2 revenue picture becomes clearer. A 99.999% booked 2+ month gig canceled in a snap.

Now, normally wouldn't think much of it except—just today alone I've had 3-4 other freelancers say they got the same cancellations/explanations from big agencies. Coincidence? Hmm... #TinfoilHat

I recently transitioned from a design role into art direction. However, 85% of what my agency does is TikTok work. So an enormous part of the role is working with influencers and reactive content based on what’s trending. Honestly, I’m miserable. The work is so cringe IMO and There is very little focus on creative storytelling through design. Also, this is the most money I’ve ever made. Should I suck it up and try to disassociate from the work, or make a move before I become the sour grapes.

How do you fight the constant pull to find something “better”? I really like my job - I’m paid very well, industry is safe/low-risk, good benefits, a great team, respected, & honestly my role is much more senior than my qualifications.

But I can’t help but have a wandering eye & feel wildly jealous when I see other people post about getting paid more or having even BETTER benefits. At what point do I force myself to be happy with what I have & understand that the grass can’t always be greener?
